WESTFIELD: Ernest N. Spelman, 86, died Monday, April 27, 2015 in a local
nursing home. He was born in Westfield on August 28, 1928 to the late Foster and Olive (Pease) Spelman and has been a lifelong resident. He was a 1946 graduate of Westfield Trade High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW-2. Ernest worked at Advance Manufacturing Co. in Westfield and retired in 2001. He was a past president of Valley Sports Car Club. He was a 50 year member of the Westfield Grange #20 and was a member of the Westfield Sportsman’s Club. He was an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle thru his 85thyear. He was predeceased by his wife Patricia A. (Malone) Spelman on February 15, 2006. Ernest leaves his children Steve N. Spelman and his wife Diane of Atlantic Beach, NY, Anne E. Barnet and her husband Lyman of Westfield and Karen M. Spelman and her fiancé John Tremblay of Brimfield, his grandchildren Nathan Barnet, Harrison Spelman, Ryan Belanger, Olivia Roy and Octavia Spelman. He also leaves his sisters Mildred Volungis and her husband Richard of Mason, Ohio, and Nancy Pouliot and her husband Normand of Chicopee. The funeral and burial will be private.
