Like Voldemort in the Harry Potter series, we need not speak of me or my record in Week 7 of the National Football League.
When my statistician prefaced our weekly correspondence with “At least the Patriots won, right?”, I knew things were bad.
And it did not go unnoticed.
“I was just trying to figure out why you were so bad,” Westfield resident Marcia Sabadosa said to me, after notifying her of her Week 7 victory which nets her a gift certificate to The Tavern Restaurant.
Sabadosa had no trouble figuring out the Week 7 slate, posting an unprecedented 11-1 mark.
“It was just sheer luck,” Sabadosa said. “There were no stats involved, no figuring it out.”
Sabadosa is a repeat winner as she and her husband, Steve, both won weekly prizes a few years ago.
“It’s just a lot of fun to see how close we come trying to win,” she said.

Contest participants do not have the fortune of picking the Patriots in Week 8 as they return to Thursday Night Football. Football fans will be treated to a doozy though when two league unbeatens, the Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos, collide in Mile High in our Sunday night tiebreaker.
