UNION, Conn. (AP) — Authorities have released the names of a woman who died and three people who were injured when their call fell through the ice on a pond at a Connecticut state park.
The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says 18-year-old Emily Blouin, of Southbridge, Massachusetts, died late Tuesday evening at Rockville Hospital.
The car’s driver, 20-year-old Justin Mcallise, and two other passengers, 22-year-old Hunter Bibeau and 20-year-old Lisa Tirado, all of Southbridge, were treated at Hartford Hospital and released.
Authorities say the car traveled about 50 yards onto the ice on a pond at Bigelow Hollow State Park in Union before falling through at about 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The Tolland County Dive Team rescued the four occupants.
Authorities say it appears the group illegally entered the park after dark.
