WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School boys’ volleyball team took care of business Tuesday, sweeping Sci-Tech in three straight games. The Bombers downed the Cybercats, 25-15, 25-13, 25-13.
“(We had) a lot of nice contributions today across the board,” Westfield coach Tyler Wingate said. “I’m happy with our improved strategy with serving and taking care of the ball.”
Several players stepped up for Westfield, including: Andrew Burrage (3 aces), Scott Walsh (26 assists, 4 digs), Shane Kiendzior (9 kills, 1 block), Tyler Stanton (17 digs, 2 aces), Ryan Murray (5 kills, 3 aces), Noah Kappel (8 kills, 1 block), and Eddie Loboda (6 kills, 1 ace).
It was the seventh win in eight games for the defending champion Bombers (7-1). Westfield’s only loss this season came against Agawam.
“We continue to be efficient on offense even with using lineups with guys in different places and getting needed experience,” coach Wingate said. “It speaks to Scott Walsh and his improvement in the setting position and Tyler Stanton providing consistent play in the back row and being one of the primary passers.”
