Why do I ever doubt Belichick or the New England Patriots? My new motto must be “In Bill I trust”.
For the umpteenth time, I failed to believe that the Patriots could defeat the mighty Arizona Cardinals in last Sunday’s season opener in the desert. For the umpteenth time, I (and several national prognosticators) chose wrong.
I doubted New England could upset the St. Louis Rams for their first-ever Super Bowl victory. I did not expect that the Patriots would become one of the most powerful dynasties of the modern era. My confidence wavered when they took on the Seattle Seahawks two seasons ago.
Time and time again, while the entire world has questioned their integrity (Spygate, Deflategate, etc.), I have questioned their resolve. It will never happen again.
From this point forward, I will not let down Patriots Nation.
Speaking of let downs, yours truly went 7-6 in the first week of our 2016 edition of “Beat ‘The Putz’”, thanks to a loss by Arizona. I am quite OK with that.
Enough about me though.
Alan Shia, Robert Piper, and Al Bennett each went 11-2. Shia nailed the tiebreaker right on the nose with 44 points to claim the first weekly prize, a gift certificate to The Tavern Restaurant.
