WESTFIELD—In spite of the icy and snowy conditions over the holiday weekend, Westfield Police did not report many accidents that occurred in their city and town.
In Westfield, just four accidents were reported between Saturday, Dec. 23, and Sunday, Dec. 24, none of which reported injuries. However, on Christmas Day, a pedestrian was reportedly struck and was later transported to Baystate Noble Hospital.
Of the accidents in Westfield over the weekend, one was Dec. 23 on North Road shortly before 5 p.m., after a vehicle had reportedly struck a deer. There were no injuries and only minor damage reported on the vehicle. No tow truck was requested.
A second accident on Dec. 23 was reported at 11:17 p.m., at Shaker Road and Little River Road. According to the report, the two-vehicle accident had reportedly involved black ice in the roadway. No injuries were reported and no tow trucks requested.
Then, on Sunday two more accidents were reported, once again with no injuries reported.
On Dec. 25 however, there was a report of a person reportedly struck by a vehicle at Franklin Street and Summer Street, according to police. Police received a report at 6:50 p.m. of a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle while they were in the crosswalk.
According to police though, the pedestrian that was reportedly struck was standing when police arrived and the vehicle that struck them was still on scene. The pedestrian was taken to Baystate Noble Hospital via Westfield Fire ambulance and personnel.
