Westfield dominated with their feet in the season opener, winning seven of 10 running events and capturing the long and high jump in an 80-64 win over host Chicopee.
Kiany Roman won two events to pace Westfield (1-0). Roman won the 100-meter dash (13.1) and 200-meter dash (27.4). Bombers’ Caleigh Rockwal (2-mile, 13:57), Ally Morin (1-mile, 5:58.6), Bridget Hartnett (400 meters, 64.7), Amy Wardner (800 meters, 2:44) also captured individual victories.
Hartnett also anchored the 4×400-relay team, with Emilia Lund, Allie Helliwell, and Morin, which finished first in 4:51.4.
Jaymie White and Chrissy Seymour won the high jump (4-8) and long jump (15-2), respectively for the Bombers.
Westfield’s Alex Lehman had a pair of close second-place finishes in the 100 meters (13.5), four-tenths of a second behind Roman, and in the 200 meters (28.4).
“Overall, it was a great first meet of the season,” Westfield coach Linda Rowbotham said. “We have lots of talent on the team. Now we’re looking forward to our next meet on April 24th in Northampton.”
That event will be a tri-meet between the Lady Bombers, Southwick-Tolland Rams, and Hampshire Red Raiders.
