WESTFIELD – The weather outside may have seemed a bit frightful Friday afternoon, but the only place to go was ahead for the Westfield High School girls lacrosse team.
Westfield forged their way ahead of Northampton time and time again Friday en route to a convincing 15-5 win in a season opener at Roots Athletics Center.
“There was nothing spectacular about the game,” said a subdued Westfield girls lacrosse head coach Paul Fenwick. “I’m not real fond about playing in the snow.”
Westfield got the job done with the bulk of the offense coming from Emma Metcalf (4 goals), Kylie Buchanan (4 goals, 1 assist), Morgan Anjos (3 goals, 1 assist), and Sydney Goyette (2 goals, 1 assist).
Westfield junior goalie Liz Clark collected 10 saves. Said coach Fenwick: “Liz did an awesome job.”
