WSU track and field gets started in Springfield

WESTFIELD – Westfield State track and field stretched their legs at the Springfield College season opener on Saturday. The non-scoring meet featured athletes from Springfield College and Union (NY) as well as the Owls.
Top peformers for the Westfield State women included senior Lauren Gilderdale, who won the weight throw with a top toss of 15.44m (50′-8″).
Margaret DaMotta won the 400 in 1:02.10, and freshman Grace Phair topped the 3000 meters in 10:18.47
The Owls 400 meter relay team of DaMotta, Jill McGrath, Erin Giugno and Moira McDonald also took first with a time of 4:27.54.
On the men’s side, the Owls had three individuai event winners, as Conner Grady took the top spot in the 1000 meters in 2:39.56.
Riley Moore was the top man in the pole vault clearing 3.80m (12′-5.5″), and freshman Adam Rowe won the 35-lb. weight throw with a distance of 10.37m (34′-1/4″)
