WESTFIELD – The City of Westfield is holding a tax possession auction for a raised ranch duplex at 27 Malone Ave. on Aug. 13 at 1 p.m.
The current assessed value for the property, a 6,969 square-foot lot and 1,232 square-foot duplex with 10 rooms, six bedrooms and two baths, is $171,200. The high bidder is not responsible for back taxes owed to the city.
The auction will be conducted on-site by Sullivan and Sullivan Auctioneers, LLC. A property information packet is available at sullivan-auctioneers.com.
The property was included in a city auction of three properties in July, 2019. At the time, the assessed value of the property was $154,000. After a back-and-forth bidding process, the property was sold for $175,000. The treasurer’s office could not be reached for comment as to why it was back on the auction block.
The auction will begin on-site at the property address at 1 p.m. Registration will begin at noon. All attendees will be expected to wear a mask and will be instructed where to go for the auction in order to observe social distancing guidelines.
Everyone except the high bidder is asked to disperse immediately following the auction.
Bidders should bring a bank check for $5,000 made payable to the City of Westfield, a mask, pen, and the property information package.
At the completion of the auction, the high bidder will be required to sign a Memorandum of Sale (P&S Agreement) along with additional affidavits, samples of which can be found in the auction info package.
The high bidder will also tender the deposit to City of Westfield Officials.
A sale will not be made to any bidder that owes the City of Westfield any monies in real estate taxes, rents, water or sewer charges, excise taxes, personal property taxes, parking tickets or any other indebtedness, according to the information packet.
