WESTFIELD – The Westfield Intermediate School will reopen Nov. 12 after being closed Tuesday due to a positive COVID test.
A member of the Westfield Intermediate School community who tested positive for COVID-19 informed the district of the test result Nov. 9.
Superintendent Stefan Czaporowski said the district learned of the positive test Monday after lunch. The school scheduled a remote learning day on Tuesday, Nov. 10 to allow for deep cleaning and to continue contact tracing. Anyone deemed to have been in close contact with the person was notified by the city or school health department, and asked to quarantine for two weeks.
Schools are closed on Veteran’s Day.
Czaporowski said the protocol the district has in place is being followed.
In an update on Tuesday morning, Czaporowski said contact tracing was completed and close contacts were notified. “WIS will reopen on Thursday. The school is being deep cleaned today and tonight,” he said, Tuesday.
