WESTFIELD: Deborah Ann Blair, 62, (1959-2022) of Westfield, was called home by her Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, February 4th at Baystate Medical Center, after a brave battle with COVID-19. She ultimately left this Earth on her own terms, a devout Christian, prepared to meet her Savior. She was born in Springfield on September 29, 1959, the daughter of Caroline “Lee” (Chistolini) Blair and her late husband, Ernest, of Westfield. Debbie, as she was usually called, was raised in Westfield, and graduated with Honors from Westfield High School in 1977. She attained her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Holyoke Community College in 1989 and maintained a successful career as a Registered Nurse thereafter. In June 2020, Debbie became a member of the Pioneer Valley Baptist Church in Westfield, where she further deepened her relationship with God as a Saved Christian. She shared the good news of Jesus with anyone she could, and her exceptional devotion to the Bible was unparalleled.
Deborah is survived by her daughter, Christina Blair, of Westfield, and her granddaughter, Kaela Brazee, who currently resides in Walhalla, ND for the USSF, which made her “Nona” very proud. Her mother Lee’s only daughter, Deb also leaves her brother Jim Blair and his wife Pamela, of Westfield, and their sons; her nephew and Godson, Michael, his wife Lauren, and their daughter Caroline, of Southwick, as well as Deb’s nephew Joshua, his wife Megan, and their children, of Marlboro, NY. Debbie also leaves her Goddaughter, Suzanne (Blair) Harlow and family, of Westfield, close friends Colleen (Mulligan) Favreau of Westfield, Kathleen (Connors) Mogielnicki of South Grafton, and Ruth Maio of Springfield, in addition to several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other good friends, for whom she prayed daily.
She was predeceased by her father Ernie in 2015, brother John in 1960, and by Christina’s father James D. Reynolds, of Holyoke, in 1981.
Debbie was a character like no other, who touched many lives in various ways over the years. She was one of the most generous people you could know; a caring and forgiving soul, with much compassion and the ability to listen to others. She loved cats, and she was kind to all animals. To honor her unique spirit, the family invites people to prepare a few brief words to share at her funeral, to convey a special memory or kind sentiment about this one-of-a-kind woman.
