Alice Jane (Roberts) Knapik

WESTFIELD: Alice Jane (Roberts) Knapik, 83, of Westfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph C. Knapik. Alice will always be treasured for her kindness, her keen wit, her straightforward insights, and her remarkable patience, which was essential for the wife of a Marine and the mother of four boys. Alice was born a Valentine’s Day baby in 1938, to the late James and Gertrude (Wood) Roberts. She was raised in Southwick, MA, graduated Westfield High School, and received a Bachelor’s degree in education from Westfield State College. She wed Joseph on June 25, 1960 and together they raised their family in Westfield.

Alice was a public school teacher at the Southwick Consolidated School for many years before staying home to raise her boys. She then worked for over eighteen years at Continental Cablevision of Westfield. Alice was proud of her Scottish heritage and her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Slovak Citizens Club. She served as a Registrar of Voters and was a talented performer in the Sweet Adelines. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Alice. She loved spending time with her many family and friends, usually with a glass of wine in hand! She cherished her get togethers with her life-long friends from Southwick, from Westfield State, and from the Bluffs. Alice enjoyed travel to England and Scotland and family vacations on Cape Cod, although highway driving with Joe was always an adventure! She was a voracious reader with a penchant for thrillers and historical fiction.

Alice is survived by her four loving sons: Joseph and wife Rose of Holyoke; Michael and wife Kathleen of Westfield; Daniel and wife Tricia of Westfield; and Neil and wife Debra of Natick. She was devoted to her seven beautiful grandchildren: Katherine, James, Joseph, Thomas, Anna, John, and Allison. She is also survived by her sister Lois and her husband Robert Tashjian of Smithland, KY, her sister-in-law Joanne Knapik of Westfield, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Alice was predeceased by her parents and her beloved brothers John, Kenneth, and Douglas and her brother-in-law John. Alice’s love and generosity will live on through her children and grandchildren and in all the lives she touched.
