WESTFIELD – Ann (McMennamin) Bartley, 77, passed away at home on July 9, 2022. She was born in Presque Isle, Maine on June 5, 1945, to the late Lawrence and Estelle McMennamin. She was a graduate of Presque Isle High School and married the love of her life, Charles (“Albert”) Bartley, just before he was deployed to Vietnam. Together, they would spend the next 40 years until his passing in 2006. Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
In addition to being predeceased by her parents and husband, Ann was also predeceased by her brother, Paul McMennamin and his wife Edith, in-laws Curtis, Ashton and Pauline Bartley; sister and brothers-in law Philip Beals, Wayne Bartley, Ray Bartley, Donna Carter, Theora and Wayne Porter, Joyce and Murray Duncan, Prudence and Allen Gray, Irene and Francis Tweedie, Gertrude and Champ Hawkins and Claudette Brewer.
Ann worked at one time as a teacher’s aide at Woodland Elementary School in Southwick, Massachusetts while her children were young and became a Girl Scout Troop leader. She owned and operated Ann’s House of Beauty in Southwick for many years until she sold the business and went to work at The Hartford Insurance Company for 16 years until her retirement to care for her beloved husband. Later in retirement she worked in childcare at the Westfield, Massachusetts YMCA. She was a parishioner of Christ Lutheran Church in Southwick.
Ann enjoyed being with family and her “grand dogs” Bailey and Mickey, vacationing on the Maine coast, crafts, shopping, and sharing a meal with family and friends.
To cherish her memory, she leaves her son, Michael Bartley of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, her daughter Lori Mountain and grandson Justin Mountain of Feeding Hills, Massachusetts; her brother John McMennamin and his wife Maryanne; sister and brothers in law Dolores Beals, Jean Bartley, Brenda and Ray Saucier, Cary and Judy Bartley, Winston Carter, and Sharon Madore; as well as many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be on Friday, July 15, 2022, at 9:45 am. at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA 01085 followed by burial at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam at 11:00 a.m. Visiting hours will be Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
