WESTFIELD – Shirley G. Ritchie, 80, of Westfield, MA passed peacefully on July 13, 2022, at Baystate Medical Center, surrounded by her children. Shirley was born October 9, 1941, to the late George and Margaret (Palmer) Coleman.
Shirley married her first love, Richard T. Richie, who preceded her in death in 2015. Shirley was also preceded in death by her sister Margaret (Coleman) Callahan in 2017.
Shirley worked as a bank teller for Woronoco Savings Bank, and later Berkshire Bank in Southwick. She also worked for a time at Shoppers Drug Store. Shirley always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met, and her first priority was always her family.
To cherish her memory, she leaves her children, son Richard Ritchie of Russell, MA, daughter Karen Smith and husband Timothy of Hampton, NH, and daughter Kristen Wescott and husband Todd of Southwick, MA. Her beloved grandchildren, Kevin Ritchie and fiancé Ashley Lewis of Westfield, MA, Kara Pelletier and husband Mark of Bow, NH, Christopher Smith of Brooklyn, NY, Ryan Wescott and partner Allison Bardwell of Southwick, MA, Kerri Abelin and husband Michael of Granby, CT and Melissa Wescott and partner Nick LaBombard of Southwick, MA. She also leaves her adored great-grandchildren, Lilah Ritchie, Nolan Pelletier, Mason Abelin, Ari Abelin and Levi LaBombard, and her sister-in-law Nancy Ritchie.
The funeral for Shirley will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at 10AM in Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Westfield. The calling hours for Shirley will be on Monday, July 18, 2022, from 4-7PM in the funeral home. Donations in Shirley’s name may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children. www.firtionadams.com
