Raymond Johnson

WESTFIELD – Raymond Johnson, 91, of Westfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on May 17th, 2026. Born on March 22nd, 1935, in New Haven, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Eric G. Johnson and Aina Johnson.

Raymond graduated from Springfield Sci Tech in 1952 and soon after embarked on a career that would define much of his life. In the 1950s, he and his father founded Johnson and Son Woodworking, a cabinet millwork business. Following his father’s passing in 1980, Raymond renamed the business and continued to run it with dedication until his retirement in 1999.

A devoted family man, Raymond was predeceased by his beloved wife, Anna Cecilia Johnson and by his brother Richard Johnson. He is survived by his brother Phillip Johnson of Salem, MA; sister Karen Johnson of Chicopee, MA; son Eric J. Johnson and his wife Catherine of Westfield, daughter Wendy Creech and her husband Michael Creech of Westfield; daughter Loriann Johnson of New York City. He leaves his grandchildren Kaitlyn Creech and Nick DeAngelo, Jessica Creech, Alicia Creech, Eric W. and Rosie Johnson, Colin Johnson and his great-grandchildren Madison and Jack DeAngelo and Olivia and Nora Chisholm.

Raymond was a steadfast son, husband and father. Raymond loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Raymond was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it be building a deck or putting in a floor. Raymond had a wonderful voice and could often be found by the piano singing at gatherings.

Faith played an important role in Raymond’s life. After moving to Westfield, he became a member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church. He served as a lector at Masses and was an active participant in the Cursillo Organization.
