
WESTFIELD – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joan H. Whipkey of Southwick, Massachusetts. Joan passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89 years old.
Born June 9, 1937, in Camden, New Jersey and raised in Somers Point at the Jersey Shore, Joan lived a life defined by compassion, strength and lifelong friendships. She was also known for her love of all animals, especially the cats she rescued and cared for throughout most of her life.
Joan’s strong Christian faith guided her throughout her years, and she remained a devout communicant of Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Westfield, Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clyde W. Whipkey; her parents, Elmer and Madeline Carty; and her siblings, Anne, Jack, Don, Margie, and Larry.
Joan is survived by her loving children, John Loreaux (Cami), Ann Duffy (Chris), and Susan Fox (Russ); and stepson Mark Davies. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Tommy, Nichole, Michael, Sean, Johnny, and Julia; and four beloved great-grandchildren, Sadie, Reagan, Ava, and Emma.
A service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Saint John’s Lutheran Church, 60 Broad Street, Westfield, Massachusetts. Burial will follow at Saint John’s Lutheran Cemetery, 139 Lockhouse Road, Westfield, Massachusetts.
Joan will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
