Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012
9:18 a.m.: violation of a protective order, Washington Street, a resident came to the station to report her former boyfriend has violated a protective order, the responding officer reports the woman said that the man violated the “no contact” clause of the order by sending a friend a text message which included a request to pass a message to her, a criminal complaint was filed;
9:59 a.m.: vandalism, Murray Avenue, a caller reports her vehicle has been vandalized again, the responding officer reports he reviewed the video system the complainant had installed and found no suspicious activity, the officer reports the marks on the car appear to be bird droppings or tree sap;
12:17 p.m.: animal complaint, Holyoke Road, the animal control officer reports he took custody of a stray yellow Labrador retriever dog and transported it to the municipal animal shelter;
1:39 p.m.: animal complaint, Fowler Road, the animal control officer reports he took custody of a stray tan terrier mix dog and transported it to the municipal animal shelter;
4:56 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports a routine check revealed that the registration of a vehicle seen operating on Springfield Road had been revoked due to lack of insurance and the owner’s license was suspended, the vehicle was stopped and the operator was found to be the owner, the officer reports both the operator and the passenger appeared be nervous and he observed waxed paper bags which are typically used for packaging heroin, when the operator exited the vehicle the officer observed additional bags and when he examined the center console he observed a metal spoon and a syringe, an examination of the operator’s pocketbook revealed several similar bags containing a white powder believed to be heroin, upon further questioning the woman said that she and her passenger had gone to Springfield earlier in the day to buy heroin for their personal use, the woman’s father came to the scene to take custody of her two children who had been in the back seat, the Department of Children and Families was notified, Michelle I. Parker, 27, of 651 Holyoke Road, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (a subsequent offense), possession of heroin and for operating an unregistered motor vehicle, Tito Anthony Pacheco, 31, of 14 Pinewood Lane, was arrested for conspiracy to violate drug laws;
7:45 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Southampton Road, a caller reports his is following an erratic operator on Southampton Road, the responding officer reports he was advised while en route that the vehicle had pulled into a liquor store parking lot and he arrived to find the operator slumped over with the engine running, the officer approached and immediately detected an odor of alcohol about the man who said that he had consumed two beers, the man failed a field sobriety test, Ryan M. Habiger, 30, of 45 Lois St., Lee, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor (a second offense), the vehicle was towed;

Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012
1:56 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Russell Road, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating at an estimated 65 mph on Russell Road and used radar to determine the vehicle was traveling at 67 mph in a 40 mph zone, the vehicle was stopped and the officer noted an odor of alcohol about the operated who said he had consumed four beers before he failed a field sobriety test, Aaron Robert McBryar, 23, of 627 Russell Road, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor and for speeding;
8:07 a.m.: animal complaint, Long Pond Road, a caller reports a skunk is stuck in a fence, the responding animal control office reports the skunk was removed;
9:21 p.m.: arrest, East Main Street, a detective reports that he sought the subject of an outstanding warrant at his workplace and found that the man had called the management to report he would be late, the detective reports he waited and observed the suspect get out of a vehicle which had arrived at the business and, when the detective approached the man re-entered the car in an attempt to flee but it was blocked in the parking lot, Jamie M. Francis, 30, of 103 Court St., was arrested on the warrant;
10:33 a.m.: violation of a protective order, Westfield Vocational-Technical High School, 33 Smith Avenue, a school resource officer reports he was advised by staff of an incident involving two students who are principals of a protective order which allows them to have contact while at school, the SRO was told that administrators had supervised a meeting between the two pupils and noted that the male party has a history of violent outbursts, the officer was told that the staff interceded when the boy became agitated, circled the girl in a threatening manner and hugged her to him, the SRO reports his investigation into the incident is incomplete;
10:55 p.m.: larceny, Henry’s Trailer Park, 868 Southampton Road, a caller reports his registration plates were stolen, the responding officer reports the caller said that the plates were on two different vehicles in an effort to avoid issues about storing and transporting an unregistered vehicle and some time since Aug. 10 they were stolen;
1:01 p.m.: suspicious persons, Railroad Avenue, a caller reports two suspicious male parties appear to have set up a camp behind a business, the responding officer reports he found two homeless parties who were advised of the complaint and left the area;
1:48 p.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, the animal control officer reports a person surrendered a black Labrador retriever dog he said he could not longer care for;
1:49 p.m.: hazardous material, Railroad Avenue, a caller reports finding a purple liquid contaminating the river, see story in Friday’s edition of The Westfield News;
4:15 p.m.: officer wanted, Meadow Street, a supervisory officer reports he was advised of persons swimming in the river, the responding officer reports all swimmers left the water and were sent on their ways;
4:21 p.m.: animal complaint, Hampden Street, a caller reports finding a Chihuahua dog, a responding animal control office reports he took custody of the dog and transported it to the municipal animal shelter;
6:45 p.m.: assault, Spring Street, a caller from Noble Hospital requests an officer to speak with a patient about an assault, the responding officer reports the victim said that he had gone to visit a friend where he found three person arguing, the man said that he attempted to mediate the argument and the man the other two parties had been trying to calm produced an open knife from his pocket and attempted to stab his chest, the man said that he turned and was stabbed in the shoulder, a criminal complaint was filed and the case remains under investigation;
10:45 p.m.: assist citizen, Court Street, a caller requests an officer to escort her while she retrieves property at her former boyfriend’s residence, the responding officer reports he assisted as the woman recovered her belongings.
