12:48 a.m.: disturbance, Cycle St., a caller reports hearing that her neighbors are involved in a disturbance, the responding officer reports he arrived to hear adult voices apparently raised in anger and also heard a child’s voice, when a man answered the door he appeared to be angry that police were there and took a boxer’s stance jabbing punches at the air, the officer unholstered his Taser and the female party knocked his hand off target, the woman and a child were escorted to another room while the man was yelling and swearing, the man declined to calm down and struggled when the officer attempted to take him into custody, the officer administered a shock with his Taser and the man was subdued, Anthony Ellis Williams, 27, of 8 Cycle St., was arrested for disturbing the peace and resisting arrest, the Department of Children and Families was notified that the child had observed the altercation;
1:00 a.m.: liquor law violation, Mechanic Street, a pair of community policing officers report they approached a young man seen to be in possession of a backpack, the reporting officer reports the youth was asked how old he was and when told that the youth was 20-year-old the officers repeatedly asked him what was in his backpack, on the third time he was asked the young man said that he was carrying something for a friend whereupon the officer asked him to show him what was in the backpack, the officer reports he found a partially full bottle of liquor in the backpack, a city ordinance violation citation was issued;
2:43 a.m.: parking violation, Hubbard Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle parked mostly on the tree belt, a parking citation was issued;
7:16 a.m.: animal complaint, Farnham Drive, an animal control officer reports a cat was transported to the municipal animal shelter to be quarantined;
8:17 a.m.: found property, Meadow Street, a caller reports a bicycle has been abandoned in her flowerbed, the responding officer reports the bike was transported to the station for safekeeping;
10:26 a.m.: officer wanted, Hampden Village, First Avenue, two residents came to the station to report that a contractor had not done work he was paid for, the responding officer reports the complainants said that they each paid for work which has not been done, the officer reports criminal complaints were filed;
10:50 a.m.: assault, Union Street, a school bus monitor came to the station to complain that she was assaulted on her bus by a special needs pupil, the responding officer reports the woman said that she does not wish to pursue criminal charges but wants the incident documented;
12:50 p.m.: larceny, Sackett Street, a resident came to the station to report medication was stolen from him, the respond officer reports the complainant said that he had been visiting a friend when his prescription medication was stolen;
1:25 p.m.: accident, Western Avenue, multiple callers report a three vehicle crash, see photos in the Saturday and Monday editions of The Westfield News;
5:26 p.m.: vandalism, Southampton Road, a residence came to the station to complain that her vehicle was keyed while parked at her workplace, the responding officer reports the complainant said that she parked her car about 8 p.m. at her workplace and when she went to get her daughter at school at 3 p.m. the girl noticed that he vehicle had been scratched;
8:30 p.m.: assist other agency, Noble Hospital, Court Street, a caller from the emergency department requests an officer to assist with an unruly patient, the responding officer reports the patient was restrained and in the process kicked a doctor, criminal complaints for assault and battery with a deadly weapon (a steel toed boot) and for assault and battery on a health care worker were filed;
9:02 p.m.: officer wanted, Springdale Road at Denise Drive, an officer duty officer requests officers for an underage drinking party, the responding officer reports that he observed there youths in the area of a sand pit and two fled, the remaining teen admitted that the youths had been drinking and persuaded the two youths who fled to return, the officer reports parents were advised and came to take custody of their children who agreed to return in daylight to clean up the party site;
10:22 p.m.: disturbance, Sackett Street, a caller reports his wife is beating him up and he wants to speak with an officer, the responding officer reports the man was obviously highly intoxicated and became excited irrational, the man’s wife said that she was unable to care for him in his intoxicated state and he was placed in protective custody;
11:44 p.m.: disturbance, Shepard Street, a caller reports loud music and a strange smell is coming from a residence, the responding community policing officer reports he assisted the tenant as he dispersed about 55 guests.

2:03 a.m.: breaking and entering, Sandy Hill Road, a caller reports his dog alerted him and he observed three male parties sprinting down the road and also saw that the interior light in his vehicle was illuminated, the man said that he investigated to find that his vehicle had been entered but nothing appeared to have been stolen, the caller said that he followed the running trio and saw them enter a neighbor’s vehicle but he was unable to keep up with them, the officer reports that nothing appeared to have been taken from the second car, a search of the area eventually yielded three men but there was no evidence to connect them with the vehicles which had been entered;
5:31 a.m.: suspicious person, Russell Road, a caller reports a man is down and out near a Russell Road gas station, the responding officer reports a man was found sleeping behind the gas station, the man was roused and a routine check revealed him to be the subject of two outstanding warrants, Yancarlos Marrero, 30, of 34 Meadow St., was arrested on the two warrants;
10:15 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street at Arnold Street, a traffic bureau officer reports a traffic stop, the operator’s license was found to have been suspended, a criminal complaint was issued and the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
10:25 a.m.: assist citizen, Cleveland Avenue, a resident came to the station to request assistance gathering her belongings from a residence where she is no longer welcome, the officer reports the woman gathered some of her possessions with only minor incidents and will consult the domestic violence advocate about removing other property;
11:00 a.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, a resident came to the station to deliver a terrier mix dog whose owner was transported to hospital by emergency responders;
11:48 a.m.: found property, Franklin Street, a resident came to the station with a woman’s wallet reportedly found on Franklin Street, the responding officer reports the owner was notified and said that she had not known the wallet was missing, the woman said that $70 in cash was missing as was a checkbook but credit cards were intact, the owner subsequently found that two checks had been forged;
12:14 p.m.: violation of a protective order, Russell Road, a caller reports that he father of her child violated the “No contact” clause of a protective order by leaving a message on her phone, the responding officer reports that he was unable to immediately contact the suspect but spoke with his mother and asked her to tell the suspect that a criminal complaint will be filed;
12:42 p.m.: larceny, City View Road, a caller reports a larceny from her home, the responding officer reports the caller said hat her son had asked her to allow a homeless friend of his to stay with them and the young man spent most of the summer at her home without incident, however, the woman said that a friend of her guest began visiting and since then she has discovered cash missing which prompted her to check her jewelry and she found some of that missing, the woman said her son told his friend that he had to move on and he did so, the case was referred to the detective bureau;
2:25 p.m.: assist citizen, Union Avenue, a caller requests an officer to keep the peace as he removes an unauthorized camera pursuant to a housing court order, services rendered;
3:50 p.m.: assault, Franklin Street, a caller reports a male party was assaulted, the responding officer reports the victim said that he had been playing a pick-up basketball game and was knocked down, the man said when he got up he was again pushed down and then punched resulting in a cut lip, the man was transported to Noble Hospital for stitches to his lip, the officer spoke with the named suspect at his home who said that the first party had been the aggressor and had knocked him down and punched him when he got up, the man identified witnesses to the incident and the officer spoke with one witness who supported the second man’s account, both parties were advised that each could seek a criminal complaint at Westfield District Court;
5:36 p.m.: officer wanted, St. Mary’s Church Rectory, 35 Bartlett St., a pastor requests an officer saying he has taken custody of a bicycle which belongs to a youth who has been creating problems on the church property, the responding officer reports he spoke with two teenaged boys about loitering in the area, the boys’ mother came to the scene and assured the officer that they will not create a nuisance in the future;
6:20 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Union Avenue, a patrol officer reports he observed a known person believed to have a revoked license operating a vehicle on Union Avenue and a check confirmed his license status, the officer reports that although the operator attempted to evade the officer when he saw him the vehicle was stopped, Anthony J. Montagna, 40, of 6 Sackett St., was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a license revoked as an habitual traffic offender;
7:40 p.m.: larceny, East Main Street, a Windsor, Conn., resident called to report his family’s bicycles have been stolen, the responding officer reports the caller said that his family rode to an East Main Street thrift store and left their bikes leaning against the building while they were inside the store for about a half hour, the man said when they exited the store they found that all three of their bicycles had been stolen;
8:17 p.m.: disturbance, Meadow Street, a caller reports a male party who will not leave her residence is involved in a physical altercation with her boyfriend, the responding officer reports he arrived to find one male party holding another to the ground, the man on top and the residents agreed that he was restraining an unruly intoxicated man who had been drinking all day and wouldn’t leave, the offending party was deemed to be too intoxicated to care for himself and no place could be found where he would be welcome, the man was placed in protective custody;
8:47 p.m.: disturbance, Meadow Street, a caller reports a domestic disturbance, the responding officer reports he found a male party who said that he had been trying to take his intoxicated girlfriend up the stairs to his residence and the woman caused both of them to fall down the stairs, the officer reports the woman was obviously too intoxicated to care for herself and was placed in protective custody;

12:40 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street at Franklin Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a person he had dealt with earlier operating a motor vehicle erratically and stopped the van, the officer noted the classic symptoms of alcohol intoxication and the man failed a field sobriety test, Dunyadar Gasanov, 28, of 24 Bates St., was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor and for negligent operation of a motor vehicle;
2:02 a.m.: disturbance, Mechanic Street, an officer responding to an abandoned 911 call reports he found a male party with a slashed neck, see story in the Tuesday edition of The Westfield News;
2:10 a.m.: incapacitated person, Bartlett Street, a patrol officer reports he found a person passed out on the tree belt with his legs extending into the roadway, the man displayed the classic symptoms of alcohol intoxication and nobody could be found who would care for him, the man was placed in protective custody;
3:27 a.m.: disturbance, Franklin Street, a caller reports about seven youths are on a roof, the responding officer reports the persons on the roof were tenants of the building and were advised to stay off the roof;
7:04 a.m.: fraud, an officer reports she was approached by a person who said that an attempt was made to defraud her when she sold an ATV online, the officer reports the woman said that she received a check from a purchaser who told her to contact him for shipment when his business check cleared, the officer and the complainant discussed the check with a banker who said that the account number was genuine and the account had sufficient funds but said that the check would eventually be rejected when the check itself was found to be fraudulent, the case was referred to the financial crimes unit of the detective bureau;
10:46 a.m.: officer wanted, Atwater Street, a caller requests an officer for a problem with an elderly homeless person, the respond officer reports he spoke with the pastor of a church who said that an elderly homeless woman who is not a member of the church has been asking parishioners to stay with them and then will not leave, the officer reports the woman was confrontational and did not listen as options were presented and simply talked over persons offering advice, when the officer attempted to escort the 73-year-old woman from the caller’s porch the woman fell to the ground screaming and would not get up, Zofia Ziembienski, 73, of 54 S. Maple St., was arrested for disorderly conduct and trespass;
12:46 p.m.: fraud, East Main Street, a resident came to the station to complain of unauthorized charges on a store credit card, the responding officer reports the complainant said that in August he learned that his store credit card had been compromised and although it was never lost it has been used eight times between July 14-21, mostly to buy gift cards, the account was closed and the case was referred to the financial crimes unit of the detective bureau;
4:39 p.m.: officer wanted, Mechanic Street, a caller reports two youths drove a scooter on the sidewalk and pretended to hit the caller, the responding officer reports he stopped a person operating a moped on Bartlett Street and advised him of the laws regarding moped operation, the boy’s mother came to the scene and took custody of the moped;
6:23 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, a patrol officer reports a routine check revealed that the owner of a vehicle seen operating on Elm Street has a suspended license, the vehicle was stopped and the operator was found to be the owner, a criminal complaint was filed and the vehicle was towed;
7:27 p.m.: incapacitated person, Main Street, a caller reports an intoxicated person at a sub shop has money strewn over the table, the responding officer reports he observed the man with a large amount of cash on the table the man was obviously intoxicated, the man was placed in protective custody;
9:22 p.m.: breaking and entering, Pearl Street, a caller reports his vehicle was broken into and his professional camera equipment was stolen, the responding officer reports the victim said that about 8:30 p.m. he put his equipment in his pickup truck and when his wife came home she pointed out that the door of the vehicle was open, the man said he checked and found that two bags containing photography equipment valued at about $15,000 had been stolen, there were no signs of forcible entry;
9:32 p.m.: fire, Bush Street, a caller reports her home is filling with smoke after she started a fire in her fireplace, the responding firefighters report there were cracks in the firebox which allowed the smoke into the living area, the residence was ventilated.
