12:10 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a patrol officer reports a vehicle was stopped for speeding and the operator ignored the officer’s repeated instructions to stay in his vehicle, the man was contentious and created a disturbance, Lucas Castro, 25, of 85 Otis St., was arrested for disorderly conduct;
1:18 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating without headlights and stopped the vehicle, the officer noted an odor of alcohol about the operator who failed a field sobriety test, Matthew John Maynard, 22, of 91 Glenwood Drive, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and for a motor vehicle lights violation;
6:26 a.m.: larceny, Knollwood Drive, a caller reports his 1992 Honda Civic was stolen, the responding officer reports the caller said that between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. his car was stolen while it was parked in his driveway, the case was referred to the detective bureau;
7:56 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Court Street, a patrol officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to have expired registration, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
9:14 A.M.: disturbance, Quail Hollow Drive, a caller reports her nephew has damaged her car, see story in the Wednesday edition of The Westfield News;
9:36 a.m.: larceny, Knox Circle, a resident came to the station to report his registration plates were stolen while his vehicle was parked on the side of the road in Vermont, the man said that he had been en route home when he realized the plates were missing;
11:46 a.m.: disturbance, Fowler Street, a caller reports she can hear a disturbance underway in a parked vehicle through her closed windows, the responding officer reports a couple was found to be arguing inside a car, the couple was separated and a routine check revealed that each was the subject of an outstanding warrant, Jill Kozaczka, 41, of 191 East St., Ludlow, and Darrell S. Merceri 48, of 126 Montgomery St., were each arrested on warrants;
1:41 p.m.: breaking and entering, East Main Street, a resident came to the station to complain that his vehicle was broken into and property was stolen while he was shopping, the responding officer reports the man said that he had left a laptop computer and a tablet computer on the back seat of his vehicle while he was shopping and when he returned to his vehicle and left he realized that a rear window had been smashed out and his computers had been stolen;
2:20 p.m.: violation of a protective order, Russell Road, a resident came to the station to complain that the father of her baby has violated a protective order, the responding officer reports the woman said that the defendant of the order violated the ‘No contact’ clause of the order by repeatedly calling and sending text messages ostensibly to speak with the infant, the suspect’s residence is not known and a warrant was sought;
5:47 p.m.: suspicious person, a detective reports he has located the subject of multiple warrants, see story in the Tuesday edition of The Westfield News;
6:26 p.m.: disturbance, Belmont Street, a caller reports that a known person has threatened her and is trying to get a knife, the responding officer reports he met a couple in the street and the male party said that his brother had menaced him with a knife and had barricaded himself inside the house, the officer requested assistance and a backup officer dispatched to cover the back door reported that a man emerged and was ordered to the ground but resisted his efforts to emplace handcuffs until an electronic control device was used, Gregory Evan Heft, 32, of 6 Belmont St., was arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, no knife was found on his person;
7:49 p.m.: officer wanted, Park Square, a patrol officer reports he observed youths with bikes and skateboards at the Green, the youths were advised not to ride skateboards or bicycles at Park Square;
9:47 p.m.: fire, Washington House, 16 Washington Street, an alarm company reports a fire alarm, see stories in the Tuesday and Wednesday editions of The Westfield News;

12:29 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Main Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating at a high rate of speed on Main Street and used radar to determine the car was traveling at 57 mph in a 35 mph zone, the vehicle was stopped and the operator said that he had no license, the man refused to identify himself and said that he was not driving but was “traveling” , a passenger was licensed and in possession of the vehicle’s registration in her name but refused to identify the operator, the man was uncooperative during the booking process and was taken to court where he was persuaded to identify himself and was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant, Lavar N. Burneu, 32, of 10 Francis St., Pittsfield, was returned to the station where he was arrested for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, for being a motor vehicle operator who refuses to identify himself, for speeding in violation of special regulations and on the warrant;
8:49 a.m.: animal complaint, Granville Road, an animal control officer reports she took custody of two stray dogs and transported them to the Westfield Animal Shelter;
10:05 a.m.: well being check, Church Street, a caller reports that a man who has been served a ‘No trespassing’ order may be at her son’s residence, the responding officer reports he found the door ajar and entered while announcing himself, the officer found the resident in bed and when he asked about the suspect he was directed to the next bedroom, the officer asked the resident if the other man was welcome and was told that he was not, David J. Mitchell, 30, of 44 Church St., was arrested for trespass;
2:20 p.m.: arrest, Westfield Police Department, 15 Washington Street, a juvenile female party came to the station and stated that she was the subject of a Child In Need of Services warrant, the girl was transported to Holyoke Juvenile Court;
4:09 p.m.: assist citizen, East Main Street, a caller reports she is handicapped and has locked her keys inside her vehicle, the responding firefighters report entry was made;
6:08 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Meadow Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;

3:20 a.m.: alarm, Southwick Road, a caller reports a motion alarm at a liquor store, the responding officer reports he found that a window in the front door had been spider webbed and pushed inside, a brick was found inside the doorway, the perimeter was secured and backup officers were requested, the store was found to be unoccupied, a key holder arrived and reviewed the store’s security video which showed an intruder enter, collect merchandise and leave before returning and repeating his actions, the case was referred to the detective bureau;
7:27 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Washington Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and it was towed;
10:00 a.m.: accident, Franklin Street, a detective reports a truck struck a building, the responding officer reports the operator said that when he was leaving a parking space he inadvertently stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal and his vehicle struck the building, the officer noted significant damage to the front end of the vehicle and the glass door of the building, the building inspector was notified;
10:20 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street, a patrol officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to be operated by an unlicensed driver;
11:59 a.m.: accident, East Mountain Road at Holyoke Road, a caller reports a truck struck the railroad overpass, the responding officer reports the operator said that the height of the rented truck was not noted in the usual place so he did not realize the truck was too high for the underpass;
12:44 p.m.: disturbance, Fowler Street, a caller reports she was assaulted, the responding officer reports the 17-year-old complainant said that she spat on a male party who grabbed her jacket resulting in constriction around her neck, the officer noted no signs on injury, the officer spoke with the suspect who said that the girl accused him of stealing her money and spat on her, the male party acknowledged grabbing the girl’s clothing, the girl was advised she could seek a criminal complaint at Westfield District Court if she chooses to pursue the matter;
1:59 p.m.: found property, a person brought a found wallet to the station, the desk officer reports he was unable to immediately contact the owner.
