WESTFIELD – Francis (Frank) Kenneth Connors, 85, died peacefully at home on January 12, 2013 with his family by his side. Born in Springfield, on January 3, 1928, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Duclos) Connors.Francis was educated in Springfield, MA and worked as a tool maker for several firms then worked at the US Postal Service for 22 years. After retirement he worked at the Big Y in West Springfield for 5 years. Francis was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and also was a member of the National Guard.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of sixty one years, Mary (Regan) Connors and his five children; Stephen and Anne Connors of Alden, New York, Susan and Sean Seslar of Westfield, MA, Brian and Nancy Connors of Westfield, MA, Kathleen Mogielnicki of Berlin, CT, and Mary and Paul Wellspeak of Westfield, MA; a brother, James of Wilbraham; a sister, Ann LaPete of Clearwater, FL; two sister-in-laws, Kathryn Lacroix of North Oxford, MA, and Marie Connors of Springfield, fourteen beloved grandchildren; Erin and Jay, Megan and Shawn, Craig and Heather, James and Megan, Mark and Elise, Bethany and David, Lauren, Brett, Kyle and Mandy, Amber, Jaclyn, Tara, Jaymes and Cameron. Francis also leaves to miss him 6 great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Hayley, Conor, Spencer, Lily and Farrah, and another one due in the spring, Baby Smith. Francis was predeceased by brothers, Edward, Clarance, Father George, Richard, Jeramiah and Joseph along with his sisters, Elizabeth, Rita, Barbara and Sr. Dorothy.
Francis was a Western Mass football official for many years and coached baseball in Springfield. Francis loved the Red Sox, the Patriots, and Notre Dame Football. Francis will miss his Thursday lunches at Bernie’s with Ernie, Paul and Jim.
His funeral will be on Wednesday from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service,76 Broad Street,Westfield at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial with military honors at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private. Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
