Joyce A. Tyler

WESTFIELD – Joyce Ann Tyler, 83, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ in the early hours of March 7, 2013. She was predeceased by her parents, Marjorie (McWorthy) and Norman Tyler, and her brother, Roderic Tyler. Joyce was born on December 2, 1929 and was a lifetime resident of Westfield.
She was a beautiful lady with a delightful personality. Joyce lived with a physical disability her whole life, but she lived life to the fullest. She spent time in her younger years traveling with her Mom, including visits to Cape Cod and visits to Michigan to see family. She loved so many things including seafood, pizza, and chocolate ice cream, country music, cats and dogs, and the color yellow. Joyce had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. She enjoyed visiting with friends, shopping, eating out, and trips to Amelia Park. She liked arts and crafts and dreamed of traveling to Hawaii. Most importantly, Joyce accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She loved studying the Bible with her friend, the late Stuart D. Finlayson, going to church, singing hymns, and talking about God. She had a simple but profound sense of right and wrong. Joyce was a fan of home improvement shows and will be so excited when the Lord Jesus shows her the Heavenly mansion He has prepared for her. Joyce lived at the Governors Center for over thirty years and was loved and will be missed by so many there.
She leaves to cherish her memory her cousins, Rosemary Holmes of Peck, Michigan and Sylvia Emmons and family of Richmond, Michigan; her dear and close friends, Chris and Valerie Myers Philipoom of Richmond, Virginia; her faithful friends from church, Ginger Brewer, Deb Townsend, Roberta Ireland, Barbara and Gary Rook, Carol and Mike Dubilo, and Bob Higbie; her loving friends, Zachary Geissler, Lori Geissler, Sharon Berwald and the late Lisa Bovat and many other caseworkers whose visits blessed her life; and her friends, Rita and Frank Myers of Southwick, Sarah Hepburn of Granville, and Cynthia Byersdorff of Germany, who have fond memories of spending joyful Christmas times with Joyce. We are so grateful for having known Joyce. She was such a blessing. What a privilege it was to spend time in her courageous and delightful company.
The funeral will be Friday, March 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church, 310 Apremont Highway in Holyoke with burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Westfield.
