2:01 a.m.: incapacitated person, Main Street, an officer responding to multiple abandoned 911 calls reports he observed a male party who fled from him, the officer reports the man appeared to be intoxicated and was placed in protective custody, the man was transported to the station where a breathalyzer indicated that he was not under the influence of liquor, the man was released;
7:10 a.m.: animal complaint, Hillside Road, a caller reports she has taken custody of a stray tan dog, the responding director of animal control operations reports he took custody of a female terrier mix dog and transported it to the municipal animal shelter;
9:46 a.m.: counterfeiting, East Main Street, a detective in the financial crimes unit of the Detective Bureau reports a counterfeit check was offered and cashed at an East Main Street bank, the detective reports the incident fits a pattern currently under investigation by officers from several communities in the area, the suspect was identified and a criminal complaint was filed although the investigation into the parent case continues;
9:52 a.m.: assist citizen, Parker Avenue, an officer was detailed to assist as a man collected some belongings from an address he is barred from by a protective order;
10:34 a.m.: identity fraud, Ponders Hollow Road, a resident reports via the online reporting system that he discovered two fraudulent accounts when he checked his credit reports, the victim reported that the two accounts had been opened years ago in another state and were in collection status;
11:45 a.m.: assist citizen, Sibley Avenue, an officer was detailed to assist as a young man gathered possessions at his former home, the officer reports the property was removed without incident;
11:58 a.m.: vandalism, Henry’s Trailer Park, 868 Southampton Road, a caller reports damage to his trailer, the responding officer reports that the caller explained that a neighbor who allows him to park a trailer on his lot during the winter appeared to be angry with him when he showed the trailer to a prospective buyer, the caller went on to say that the next day he discovered a window had been broken and other damage was done to the trailer, the victim said that he suspects the lot owner is responsible but the officer reports the other man denies any knowledge of, or responsibility for, the damage;
12:05 p.m.: larceny, Main Street, a caller from a supermarket reports a male party shoplifted two packages of razors valued at $30 each, the responding officer reports the suspect was found at a nearby bus stop, admitted stealing the razors and surrendered them to a store employee who approached the officer, the man was served with a “No trespassing” order for the store;
12:28 p.m.: suspicious person, Main Street, a patrol officer reports he encountered a male party in a supermarket parking lot with property loaded into a shopping cart which he was removing from the parking lot, the officer reports the man was uncooperative when advised to remove his property from the cart and leave it in the lot, the man became abusive, insulting and disorderly, William J. Fabrocini, 63, of Worthington St., Springfield was arrested for disorderly conduct and for attempting to commit a crime (larceny);
12:29 p.m.: fire, Granville Road, a caller reports a large amount of smoke, the responding deputy fire chief reports unauthorized burning of a brush pile was allowed to burn out;
4:07 p.m.: fire, Montgomery Road, a caller reports a large amount of smoke, the responding fire captain reports that although burning of a brush pile was not unauthorized it was within the permitted parameters and was allowed to burn out;
9:44 p.m.: animal complaint, Simmons Brook Drive, a caller reports taking custody of a stray dog, the responding animal control officer reports the dog was transported to the municipal animal shelter;
10:50 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the officer reports the operator was found to be unlicensed, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard.
