6:51 a.m.: assist citizen, Glenwood Drive, a caller requests assistance getting into her father’s residence, the responding officer reports entry was made;
10:12 a.m.: traffic complaint, Mainline Drive, a caller reports Mainline Drive is flooded and a vehicle is stuck in the water, the responding officer reports two vehicles were found to be stranded in the flooded roadway, the state highway department was notified and dispatched a crew to clear the road drains, the officer reports the road again became passable at 11:22 a.m.;
11:13 a.m.: assist citizen, Cranston Street, a caller requests assistance getting into his running vehicle, the responding deputy fire chief reports entry was made;
11:16 a.m.: suspicious person, a caller reports a male party who stole blank checks is at his bank attempting to cash one, the responding officer reports that city detectives have been investigating a theft from a dwelling in which a checkbook was stolen and a detective had obtained a warrant for a suspect alleged to have fraudulently cashed three of the checks for a total of more than $1,000, the officer reports that James S. Guillmette, 31, of 128 Elm St., was found at the bank and arrested on the warrant, during the booking process he was found to be in possession of a packet of heroin and was also charged with possession of heroin;
12:46 p.m.: animal complaint, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a fawn on the Great River Bridge is a hazard to traffic, the responding officer reports the deer reached the riverbank and appears not to need assistance;
1:20 p.m.: larceny, East Main Street, a caller from an East Main Street business reports he parked his unlocked bicycle outside the building while he was working and between 12:45 and 1:30 p.m. it was stolen;
2:01 p.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, a person came to the station to surrender a springer spaniel she said belongs to her father who can no longer care for the dog;
4:47 p.m.: fire, Holyoke Road, a caller reports somebody is burning brush in the area, the responding firefighters report a large unattended outside fire was found and extinguished;
6:51 p.m.: harassment, Margerie Street, a detective reports that he was approached by a male party who said that he has been harassed by his father because of differing opinions about how to best deal with the victim’s ongoing health issues, the detective reports that the complainant does not ask for any action but wants the situation documented in case the complainant’s father initiates legal proceedings to impose his will in terms of medical treatment for the complainant;
6:54 p.m.: larceny, Jefferson Street, a staff member for a supervised living residence reports more than $500 was stolen from a locked drawer where the residents’ cash is kept, the responding officer reports the caller said that some but not all of the money kept a locked drawer in separate notebooks for residents and for the program’s petty cash was found to have been stolen between Sunday evening and Tuesday morning, the officer reports that although the drawer is locked it can be accessed without a key, the staff has begun an internal investigation and the case was referred to the Detective Bureau;
8:12 p.m.: assault, Hillside Road at Southwick Road, a call reports her estranged husband intentionally rammed her vehicle with his, the responding officer reports the caller said that her estranged husband had tailgated her from a Southwick address and rammed her vehicle when she stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Hillside and Southwick roads, the officer reports a witness who supported the caller’s account said that the man had appeared to be aggressive, the officer spoke with man who said that he had followed the woman and rammed her because he was trying to recover property in the woman’s possession, a criminal complaint for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon was filed and the officer advised the Registry of Motor Vehicles of the potential threat to motorists represented by the man;
8:41 p.m.: lost property, Main Street, a resident came to the station to report the loss of his family’s identification documents, the responding officer reports the man said that his wife had left a bag containing the family’s passports, identification cards and other document on a bus, the officer reports the police in West Springfield where the bus next went were notified but the bag was not found;
9:09 p.m.: assault, North Elm Street, a caller reports a past assault and battery, the responding officer reports he arrived to find two groups of three teenaged youths on opposite sides of the roadway, a member of one groups said that she and her friends had encountered a group of youths with whom they have had issues and words were exchanged when one member of the second group spat at the first group, the situation devolved when one of the girls in the second group grabbed the hair of one of the other girls and punched her repeatedly, parts of the encounter were recorded on cell phone video and the officer secured a copy, criminal complaints for assault and battery were filed.
