12:11 a.m.: disturbance, Jefferson Street, a caller reports a large party is spilling out into the street, the responding officer reports about 50 persons were present and the party was loud, the tenants asked the responding officers for assistance dispersing guests who were reluctant to leave, services rendered;
1:54 a.m.: braking and entering, Arnold Street, a supervisory officer reports he was approached in a municipal parking lot by a resident who said that a window at his apartment building had been smashed, the officer said the resident reported hearing a noise outside and looked out to see a person leaving the front door which had a shattered window, a search of the area did not yield a suspect;
3:08 a.m.: disturbance, Summer Street, a caller reports her former boyfriend is outside her apartment yelling and trying to gain entry, the responding officer reports the woman said that the man kicked a hole in her door, the officer found the suspect on Main Street, Shakeem K. Scott, 30, of 98 Riverdale St., West Springfield, was arrested for vandalizing property;
3:36 a.m.: disturbance, Broad Street, a caller reports persons are fighting behind the fire station, the responding officer reports several of the combatants fled when police arrive and the remaining two college students said that they encountered a quartet of local youths and one of them became engaged in a physical altercation with one of the college youths, the officer was told that the two combatants were on the ground wrestling when the local youth produced a knife and asked the college youth if he wanted to continue, the youths said that the fight ended then and the local youths fled when police arrived;
8:58 a.m.: assist citizen, a supervisory officer reports a resident asked that police take temporary custody of firearms which had belonged to a deceased relative pending a determination of their disposition, the responding officer reports the firearms were stored for safekeeping;
9:17 a.m.: breaking and entering, Turnpike Industrial Park Road, a caller reports tools were stolen from his business, the responding officer reports a manager of the company showed him a window which had been pried open to gain access to the tool room which had been pillaged and tools valued at almost $5,000 had been stolen;
10:58 a.m.: larceny, George Street, a caller reports her boyfriend stole her vehicle, the responding officer reports a check showed the vehicle to be registered to the caller but when the officer called the suspect he claimed it was his before referring the officer to his attorney and hanging up, the officer spoke with the attorney and advised him that his client would be charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, the parties subsequently agree that no charges would be filed if the vehicle was delivered to the police station by 1 p.m.;
11:11 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and it was towed to the police impound yard;
2:01 p.m.: vandalism, King Street, a caller reports the windows of his vehicle were shot out with a BB gun, the responding officer reports the caller said that he parked his vehicle the day before and when he returned to it about 2 p.m. he found a window had been shattered;
2:57 p.m.: larceny, Lady Slipper Circle, a resident reports via the online reporting option that her daughter stole her jewelry, the reporting party wrote that her daughter has a heroin addiction and is homeless as she is no longer welcome at her mother’s home, the woman wrote that the day after the young woman stole her jewelry she came to her and told her that she and the father of her sister’s baby went to the victim’s home where she gained entry and stole the jewelry which she and the man sold at a West Springfield jewelry store to pay the man for a bundle of heroin, the woman said that she placed her daughter in a residential treatment facility and provided pertinent information about the man who abetted in the theft;
3:24 p.m.: identity fraud, a resident came to the station to complain that he attempted to open a G&E account but found that one had already been opened with his personal information, the responding officer reports the victim said that the G&E would give him no information about the fraudulent account, the case was referred to the financial crimes unit of the Detective Bureau;
4:31 p.m.: accident, Southampton Road, a caller reports an accident involving a pedestrian, the responding officer reports the motorist said that she pulled into a parking lot and struck a pedestrian she did not see because of sun glare, the pedestrian was transported to Noble Hospital for treatment;
8:07 p.m.: officer wanted, Park Square, an officer was dispatched because youths had been seen playing with skateboards on the Green, the responding officer reports he spoke with four persons who denied skateboarding and said that the skateboarders had fled, the persons nonetheless agreed to leave the area;
9:50 p.m.: disturbance, Morgan Avenue at Union Street, an office duty officer reports two groups of men are fighting, the responding officers separated the combatants and a pedestrian said that he and his friends had been walking on the sidewalk when a vehicle occupied by the other group approached and stopped after the occupants yelled insults at them, the man said that one of the others instigated an argument with him and then punched him starting the general melee, none of the parties wanted to pursue criminal charges and they were advised that a report would be filed so any of them could seek a criminal complaint at Westfield District Court if they change their minds.
