6:57 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a patrol officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to have expired registration, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
9:11 a.m.: disturbance, Powder Mill Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports a friend was assaulted, the responding officer reports the victim said that her boyfriend had strangled her with one hand while punching her with the other and saying he hoped she would die, the officer reports he observed marks on the woman’s neck and chest which support her account, the suspect was found in the apartment, Jimmy Cruz, 19, of 33 Elm St., was arrested for assault and battery;
11:56 a.m.: larceny, Elm Street, a caller reports he believes he has encountered his bicycle which was stolen from his porch the night before, the responding officer reports the bike in question was not the one which had been stolen from the caller;
2:00 p.m.: suspicious person, Mechanic Street, a caller reports a male party was seen urinating on a house, the responding officer reports the man admitted his actions and was found to be too intoxicated to care for himself, the man was placed in protective custody;
2:30 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Southampton Road, patrol officers request a tow for a vehicle found to have expired registration, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
3:10 p.m.: accident, Little River Plaza, East Main Street, a caller reports an accident without injuries, the responding officer report a vehicle in tow came loose and struck several vehicles parked in the lot, the officer reports two of the eight vehicles involved were towed to the police impound yard;
4:07 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
4:55 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
6:26 p.m.: fire, Buck Pond Road, a caller reports a large bonfire, the responding firefighters report a cooking fire was found and the resident agreed to extinguish it, see next entry;
7:04 p.m.: fire, Buck Pond Road, a caller reports the residents who had assured firefighters they would extinguish an outside fire have not done so and have added fuel, the responding office reports the resident said both that he had attempted to extinguish the fire but it reignited and also said that he was not doing anything wrong, the officer reports the fire was small enough that a garden hose could have been used to easily extinguish the fire and that man was uncooperative and disrespectful, firefighters returned and extinguished the fire, the officer reports that any charges resulting from the incident will be filed by the fire department;
7:11 p.m.: larceny, Southwick Road, caller from a Southwick Road liquor store reports a shoplifter stole a bottle of liquor, the responding officer reports the caller said she observed a male party who had bought cigarettes remove a bottle of liquor from his waistband after he left the store, the clerk provided a description of the vehicle the suspect left in and the officer reports the man was found, the liquor was recovered and a criminal complaint was filed;
8:41 p.m.: disturbance, Bartlett Street, a caller reports a male party is fighting with a woman and threatening to kill her, the responding officer reports the female party said that the man had twice punched her face, the officer reports the male party acknowledged that he had pushed and slapped the woman, Daniel C. Rinaldi, 42, of 24.5 Bartlett St., was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship;

2:50 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Southampton Road, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating at a high rate of speed and used radar to determine it was traveling at 55 mph in a 40 mph zone, the vehicle was stopped and the operator’s license was found to have been revoked as an habitual traffic offender, the operator acknowledged that she knew her license had been revoked, Katie L. Warner, 27, of 555 Russell Road, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a license revoked as an habitual traffic offender and for speeding in violation of special regulations;
3:46 a.m.: larceny, Elm Street, a caller reports a known person stole a pack of cigarettes from a convenience store, the responding officer reports the complainant said that while he was out of the store briefly a known person went behind the counter and stole a pack of cigarettes;
4:48 a.m.: harassing electronic communications, a person came to the station to complain that she has been receiving threatening phone calls and text messages from a known person who threatens to harm her and her family, the officer reports he reviewed the text messages, criminal complaints were filed;
9:45 a.m.: disturbance, a caller reports an altercation with the father of her child, the responding officer reports the woman said that the child’s father was upset because she was delayed making the child available to him and said that the man grabbed her throat and threw her into a chair, the woman said when she attempted to call police the man took her cell phone from her and demanded that she sign documents altering their child custody agreement, the woman said that the man would not let her leave and said that he would keep her there until she signed the documents, the woman said that she was eventually able to retrieve her phone and flee with her child, the officer reports the man was found at the residence, Artiom Vasilyevich Zhuk, 26, of 5 Frisbee Terrace, Holley, N.Y., was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship, intimidating a witness, kidnapping and threatening to commit a crime, see 3:42 p.m. entry;
10:22 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Union Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the operator’s license was found to have been suspended, Joshua A. Dejesus, 33, of 126 Union St., was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
10:30 a.m.: breaking and entering, Elm Street, an Elm Street resident came to the station to report that his apartment was broken into, the responding officer reports the complainant said that he left home about 4:30 p.m. and returned about 9 p.m. to find an air conditioner had been removed to gain access to his apartment, the man said that a 40-inch flat screen television and a DVD player had been stolen;
1:23 p.m.: assist citizen, Kane Brothers Circle, a caller requests an officer to assist as he retrieves his property from an address he is barred from by an abuse prevention order, the responding officer reports the resident did not object and the man took possession of his trailer without incident;
2:58 p.m.: harassment, Ridgeview Terrace, a caller reports a neighbor is harassing him and has come on to his property without permission, the responding officer reports that the caller said that in the past he had allowed a neighbor to dump leaves behind his house but he no longer chooses to do so and his neighbor is not accepting this decision with good grace, the officer suggested that the resident serve his neighbor with a ‘No trespassing’ order and attempted to assist the man with the service but found the other party was not at home, the resident was advised to send the order to his neighbor via certified mail;
3:42 p.m.: serve restraining order, Westfield Police Department, a supervisory officer reports a prisoner was served with a full ‘no-contact’ abuse prevention order;
5:55 p.m.: disturbance, Jefferson Street, a caller reports a disturbance, the responding officer reports he entered the residence to find it in disarray with broken glass widely scattered and furnishings displaced and damaged, the officer found a male party attempting to restrain a second man and learned that the excited man (who was obviously highly intoxicated) had become enraged because his girlfriend had not returned home and had damaged his home, the man pointed out that he is free to destroy his property if he chooses to, the man was deemed to be too intoxicated to safely care for himself and he was placed in protective custody;
7:00 p.m.: arrest, Elizabeth Avenue, officers learned of an outstanding warrant for an Elizabeth Avenue resident and sought the subject at her home, Kaitlin Lois Palazzi, 21, of 108 Elizabeth Ave., was arrested on the warrant;
7:25 p.m.: breaking and entering, Chapel Street, a caller reports his home was broken into, the responding officer reports that the caller said that he may have left his front door unlocked during a brief absence, the man said that when he returned he found his apartment had been entered and jewelry, a video game console, a jar of quarters and loose change had been stolen;
7:55 p.m.: violation of a protective order, a caller reports she had been getting harassing phone calls from the defendant of an abuse prevention order, the responding officer reports the caller showed him a record on her phone of calls and text messages the man has sent to her in violation of the ‘No contact” clause of the order, a criminal complaint was filed;
8:39 p.m.: vandalism, East Main Street, a caller reports a pickup truck occupied by four persons is driving in a parking lot and damaging shopping carts and signs as the occupants yell profanities, the responding officer reports he found the pickup and the operator admitted driving into and over shopping carts but said that he did not plan to keep the cart that was in the bed of the truck, three youths transported to the station and the operator of the pickup truck who drove it there awaited their parents, the officer reports the parents of the boys agreed to make restitution for the vandalized shopping carts and criminal charges were held in abeyance pending such restitution;
10:38 p.m.: larceny, Powder Mill Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports hearing noises outside and investigated to find two bicycles had been stolen, the responding officer reports the caller said that the bikes had been secured together but were both stolen.
