10:28 a.m.: accident, Westfield Vocational-Technical High School, a school resource officer reports a pedestrian accident in a parking lot at the school, the SRO reports that one pupil attempted to play a prank on a friend by running into the path of his moving motor vehicle, the SRO reports the victim darted out from between parked cars and ran at the other boy’s vehicle and the operator was unable to avoid striking his friend, the boy was transported to Noble Hospital where he was treated and released;
12:54 p.m.: alarm, Main Street, an alarm company reports a silent panic alarm from a Main Street liquor store, the responding officer reports a store employee said that there was no emergency but a customer was licking a trash can and acting strangely, the officer reports that he transported the customer to the West Springfield border where his father took custody of him;
1:51 p.m.: larceny, Russell Road, a patrol officer reports he was flagged down by the operator of a tractor trailer unit who complained that property had been stolen from the cab of his vehicle, the officer reports the complainant said that he believes his backpack containing a GPS device and a set of keys was stolen from the unlocked cab of his vehicle while it was out of his sight while he was making a delivery at a Russell Road convenience store;
4:02 p.m.: arrest, Bates Road, detectives report execution of a warrant resulted in an arrest, see story in the Thursday edition of The Westfield News;
4:35 p.m.: accident, Prospect Street Extension, a caller reports truck struck a utility pole and went down a gully next to the road, the responding officer reports the operator was extricated and transported to Noble Hospital where he was treated and released; the officer reports that the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve properly and the operator over-corrected when the pickup truck went off the left side of the road, the vehicle returned to the proper side of the road but continued and snapped a utility pole before continuing down a gully and coming to rest after it struck a tree;
5:28 p.m.: identity fraud, Granville Road, a resident came to the station to report that a caller offered to provide him electrical service at a lower rate that that charged by the G&E but appeared to be fishing for his personal information, the responding officer reports that there appears to be a company with same name as the company the man claimed to represent but he could not find a legitimate explanation for offering service in the G&E service area;
7:01 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, West Silver Street, a patrol officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to have expired registration, the vehicle was towed;
7:21 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, East Main Street, a patrol officer reports a motor vehicle stop for text messaging while operating a motor vehicle, the officer reports he delivered a verbal warning to the operator;
8:01 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a patrol officer requests a tow for a vehicle found to have expired registration, the vehicle was towed.
