The Jr. Bombers faced off against Amherst Blue in a more challenging game than they’ve seen the past few weeks, but still managed to nudge ahead for a 15-11 win. Five minutes into the game, Amherst slipped one past Jr. Bomber goaltender Michael Pelletier, only to be matched just 7-seconds later with a shot by Westfield’s Darrin Schnopp. Amherst quickly came back with another goal to be followed by the quick scoring action of Sean McMahon, Katie Collins, Sarah McMahon and Evan Grant. But Amherst did not back down as they too came back with another three goals. Darrin Schnopp would net his second goal of the game assisted by Sean McMahon, followed by a shot from Michael Miller from Katie Collins, and goal number two for Evan Grant. Again, Amherst showed their strength netting two more within just seconds of each other. Westfield would manage to fire in the next three shots with goals by Evan Grant assisted by Darrin Schnopp and Katie Collins adding two more goals to her list of successes, one assisted by Michael Miller. Amherst followed up with an additional four goals that tied things up at (11). But Westfield was hungry to keep their winning streak alive and came back with an additional four goals by Patrick Rae with back to back goals followed by Michael Miller and Evan Grant with one more each. Michael Pelletier made some big saves, stopping two-thirds of the shots against him. Consistent defense by Jesse Spear, Nathan Sarabaez and Jarred Ritter played a big role in this victory as well.
Holy Name Green 12, Westfield Jr. Bombers 5

The Westfield Jr. Bombers Red and Holy Name Green engaged in a spirited contest this past Sunday at the Olympia Ice Center in West Springfield. The 12-5 score really doesn’t indicate how closely contested the game was throughout. The Bombers skated extremely hard from start to finish in an unrewarded effort. Brandon Houle (8) had three goals while Joe Roselli (13) and Gavin Connors (3) also scored for Westfield. AJ Robbins collected 25 saves for the Bombers in an outstanding effort. The Red team is improving every week and will look to continue that this coming weekend.

The Westfield Jr. Bombers continue their winning season with another impressive win against Amherst today. Westfield struck early with an unassisted goal by Reid Hannan, 27 seconds into the game. Westfield continued with another unassisted goal by Reid Hannan advancing their win to 2 – 0. Amherst then came back scoring a goal, which made the score 2 – 1. Amherst then made some impressive shots on goal, but Westfield’s goalie, Brian Daly made many saves, including an “awesome” glove save. Westfield then advanced their lead with a well-executed text drop pass made by Reid Hannan to Clarissa (CJ) Jarrell to end the first period with Westfield in the lead by 3 – 1. In the second period Westfield was on the attack with many executed passing plays by the offensive line of Noah DuBoff, Keely Connor, Kaitlyn Forest, Kurt Toomey, Reid Hannan, Clarissa (CJ) Jarrell, and Nick Langlois. It wasn’t until the end of the second period of when Westfield advanced their lead to 4 – 1 with a “scrum” goal by Noah DuBoff, which went back and forth between Keely Connor, Kaitlyn Forest and Noah DuBoff, but finally ended up in the crease of Amherst’s goal by Noah. The second period ended with Westfield in the lead of 4 – 1. In the third period, Westfield continued to dominant with many stick saves made by Westfield’s goalie, Brian Daly and a “most” impressive glove save as well. Westfield then advanced its lead with goal # 5, made by Reid Hannan. His goal was an unassisted right side wrist “garage shot” that found the top left corner in Amherst’s goal. Westfield made many smart plays in the third period, and showed a lot of “hustle”, especially when Captain Thea Glenzel made an impressive skate from defense, passing all of Amherst’s players where she took a hard shot on Amherst’s goalie, which was unfortunately stopped. Westfield would eventually advance their lead to 6 – 1 with yet another unassisted goal by Reid Hannan, where he skated by all of Amherst’s team to make his fourth goal of the game. The Westfield Jr. Bombers won another game today with a final score of 6 – 1. Today’s win advances the PeeWee 3 team to be 7 and 0, and remain undefeated so far this season. Great game today and it was due to the “outstanding” teamwork by the entire Westfield Jr. Bomber’s team. Not only did the offensive line make many smart “passing” plays, but the fierce defensive plays by Ian Lemieux, Alyssa Warren, Thea Glenzel, Nick Langlois and very strong defense by Steven Shaw kept Amherst from scoring on goalie, Brian Daly. We are so proud of all of you along with the great coaching by Rick Vadnais and Assistant Coaches. Keep up the great teamwork Westfield Jr. Bombers!

The Bantam 2 Jr. Bombers got back to business after a week off from league play by dominating Amherst in their first matchup of the young season. Nate Gendron got the scoring started just 2:23 into the first period, taking a rebound from a Devin Baker slap shot and finding the back of the net. From there, Alex Beauchemin took over the game. Beauchemin scored the next three goals for the Jr. Bombers, first taking the puck end to end on a shorthanded rush and making it 2-0. Then Beauchemin got assists from Nikita Chepurin and Danny Antonellis on his way to his second goal, and finally took a pass from Scott Bussell to make it 4-0 Westfield one minute into the 2nd period. In the second half of the game, Antonellis notched his second goal of the season off a rebound from a Jack Labbe shot, and Tyler Bennett closed out the scoring on a ripped slap shot from just inside the blue line. Westfield dominated the scoring opportunities, outshooting Amherst 56-16 over the course of the game. The defense shone once again, with Wyatt Jensen returning from injury to bolster the defensive efforts of John Pitoniak, Charlie Bonatakis and Brandon Laviolette. Matt Brady stopped all 16 shots en route to his second consecutive shutout as Westfield moved to 2-1 on the season.
Franklin County 5, Westfield Jr. Bombers 3

Westfield faced a tough early season challenge against the first place, undefeated Franklin County team. And Franklin County came out and showed Westfield how they earned their 6-0-0 start, as they scored the first four goals of the game en route to a 5-3 win over Westfield. Despite outshooting Franklin County by a 28-12 margin, Westfield found themselves down 4-0 with time running out in the second when Jake Viamari found the puck in a scrum of players and beat the Franklin goalie for his first GSL goal. Westfield again found themselves down by four goals when Jack Labbe took a pass from Alex Beauchemin, and used a screen from Quinn Powers to make the score 5-2 with just over 3:00 left in the game. Beauchemin then won the ensuing face-off, sending the puck over to Powers, who raced through the two Franklin defenders and slid the puck back to Beauchemin for Westfield’s second goal in 8 seconds, and close the gap to 5-3 as the Westfield team refused to go down easy. Alas, it was not be, as Franklin’s defense toughened up and withstood Westfield’s final assault to keep the score at 5-3 as the game ended.
