12:53 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the driver was found to be a junior operator operating outside the allowed hours, a criminal complaint was filed;
7:06 a.m.: weather complaint, Hanover Street, a caller reports the roadway is blocked by a fallen limb, the responding officer reports he moved the downed limb to the side of the road, the DPW was advised to address the issue;
9:18 a.m.: assist citizen, Notre Dame Apartments, 25 Collins St., a caller reports her keys are locked inside her running vehicle, the responding firefighters report entry was made;
10:45 a.m.: violation of a protective order, Powder Mill Village, 126 Union St., a resident came to the station to complain that the defendant of an abuse prevention order has violated the ‘No contact’ clause of the order, the responding officer reports the woman showed him that she had received seven calls and five text messages from the man in the early hours of the morning, a criminal complaint was filed;
11:29 a.m.: arrest, Westfield Police Department, 15 Washington St., an officer reports that a man who was the subject of an outstanding warrant came to the station to speak with him, Richard K. Hess, 30, of 430 Rock Valley Road, Holyoke, was arrested on the warrant;
11:45 a.m.: found property, East Main Street, a resident came to the station to surrender a wallet found behind the Westfield Shops on East Main Street, the responding officer reports a message was left for the owner and the wallet was stored for safekeeping when he did not respond to the message;
12:48 p.m.: fraud, Madison Street, a resident came to the station to complain that someone has used his son’s social security number in Florida, the responding officer reports the man said that a person filed a tax return with his son’s social security number and the IRS requires a police report to proceed with an investigation;
1:40 p.m.: larceny, Broad Street, a caller from a nursing home reports a resident’s wedding band was stolen, the responding officer reports an administrator said she was advised by the resident’s relatives that her wedding band was not longer where it is usually kept, the case was referred to the detective bureau;
2:00 p.m.: disturbance, Livingstone Avenue, a caller reports someone is yelling in the woods behind her home, the responding officer reports a screaming male party was located behind a Woodland Avenue house and was obviously highly intoxicated, the man’s father said that he is unable to care for his son when he is intoxicated, the man was placed in protective custody;
3:03 p.m.: animal complaint, Southwick Road, the animal control officer reports she took custody of a dog which was mistakenly surrendered at a small animal clinic;
3:35 p.m.: larceny, Ponders Hollow Road, a caller from an armored car company reports an employee has confessed to stealing cash which had been entrusted to his care, the responding detective reports a criminal complaint is pending the completion of the company’s in-house investigation;
3:47 p.m.: animal complaint, Western Avenue, the director of animal control operations reports he took custody of a stray black Labrador retriever dog and transported it the municipal animal shelter;
4:26 p.m.: disturbance, George Street, a social worker reports during a family session a 16-year-old girl repeatedly struck her mother, the responding officer reports the girl was arrested for being delinquent by reason of assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
8:37 p.m.: larceny, Lockhouse Road, a resident reports via the online reporting option that a package which was delivered at his apartment was stolen before he found it;
9:38 p.m.: larceny, East Main Street, a caller for a Main Street supermarket reports an employee was victimized by a flimflam artist, the responding officer reports he was told that the man had asked a clerk to exchange currency in a complicated transaction and the clerk reports that the customer’s apparent eagerness to leave with the five $100 bills he had been given in return for a number of smaller bills prompted him to check the money and he found that he had only $400, an officer was able to identify the suspect from a security video image, the man was contacted, advised o f the ‘mistake’ and agreed to return the excess funds;
10:23 p.m.: vandalism, Springfield Road, a caller reports the tires on his vehicle were slashed, the responding officer reports the man said that two of his tires were flattened while his SUV was parked at a Springfield Road department store.
