Adrian “Dan” G. Magrath

Adrian "Dan" G. MagrathWESTFIELD- Adrian “Dan” G. Magrath , 90, passed away on February 8, 2017 surrounded by his family.  Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Laurence and Giulia Magrath.  Dan proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII and Korea earning the rank of Lieutenant and serving on the U.S.S. Saipan and U.S.S. Chipola.  He was a man who loved family, good food and drink, and who had traveled widely including trips to many various countries.  He spoke fluent Italian, which he learned from his mother, and put to good use on his many trips abroad.  After retiring, Dan spent his time between Florida and Maine where he loved family visits, before moving to Westfield.  He was the owner of his office supply company, Repromat, for over 25 years, starting it from the ground up in South Hadley.  Dan will be dearly missed by his children, Adrian Magrath, Jr and his wife Maggie of Amherst, Donna Sullivan and her husband Thomas of Westfield, Cynthia Magrath and her partner Sara of Worthington; by his brother C. Peter Magrath and wife Susan of Maryland; by his six grandchildren, Sean, Devin, Michael, Colleen and Dillon Sullivan, Meagan Magrath-Smith and her husband Dave, and one great-grandchild, Finnegan.  He was predeceased by his first wife Hedwidge and his second wife Judith.

Visitation will be on Saturday, Feb. 11th from 11 a.m.-12pm at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home.  A time of remembrance service will take place at 12:00 p.m., with burial and military honors afterward in Evergreen Cemetery, South Hadley.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western and Central Massachusetts, 1325 Springfield Street, Suite 12, Feeding Hills, MA 01030.  For details, please visit www.beersandstory.com.
