Alice M. Deveno

WESTFIELD – Alice Mae (George) Deveno, 89, of Westfield died Friday in a local nursing home on her 89 birthday. Born in Elmira, NY, she lived in Westfield most of her life.
Alice was the co-owner with her late husband Michael of Deveno Stables of Westfield. She was also employed at the Springfield Armory during World War II, and was also an operator for the former New England Telephone Co. Alice was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Westfield Riding Club, and the Westfield Council on Aging.
She was the widow of Michael Deveno, Sr., who died in 1993. She is survived by three sons; Michael and his wife Gabrielle of Gansvort, NY, Phillip and his wife Roberta of West Springfield, Paul and his wife Lorilee of Chicopee; two daughters, Tina Deveno of South Windsor, CT, and Debra Deveno of South Hadley; three brothers, Roger George of Westfield, Harold “Skip” George of Hot Springs, AK,and Phillip of Ft. Myers, FL two sisters, Betty Jane Leclaire of Charlotte, NC, and Linda Herringshaw of Herkimer, NY. Alice also leaves five grandchildren, Paul Deveno, Mark Deveno, Tony Deveno, Alicia Deveno, and Adam Brennan, and three great-grandchildren, Nathan Deveno, Anna Deveno, and Dillon Deveno. She was predeceased by her siblings, James George, Robert George, Leo George, Donald George, Rosemary Platt, and David George.
Her funeral will be held on Friday at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield at 12 Noon. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the funeral on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 12Noon.
