WESTFIELD – Raymond L. LeBlanc, 82, of Westfield died Saturday in Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Springfield on January 4, 1930, to the late Amos and Lydia LeBlanc.
He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1947 and also served as a Navy Veteran. Ray has resided in Westfield for the last sixty years and was a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s Church. He retired in 1987 from Hamilton Standard where he was employed for thirty-three years as a Production Control Supervisor. In addition, he was an active member for the past 25 years of the Hamilton Standard Retiree’s Management Club. Ray loved laughing and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was an avid pitch player, coin collector and looked forward to visiting with his friends at the American Legion Post 124.
Ray leaves his loving wife of 60 years, Frances (Vella) LeBlanc, his children Karey Pessagno and her husband Lou of Jacksonville, Florida, Christopher LeBlanc and his wife Mary Faith of Westfield, Laurie Howard and her husband Brian of Westfield. He also leaves his sisters, Teresa Cameron and her husband James of Hillsboro, Oregon and Rosemarie Stone of Enfield, Connecticut. He leaves his beloved grandchildren, Michael Pessagno, Colette Montgomery and her husband Keith, Christopher, Vanessa and Marissa LeBlanc and her fiancé Dave Smithies, Ryan, Jon and Kate Howard and her fiancé Adam Saltus and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Leonard, Maurice and David. The family would like to express their thanks to Baystate Medical staff for their wonderful care and compassion during his recent illness.
His funeral will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 30 Bartlett St., Westfield, MA, 01085.
