The arrest was in connection to the stabbing of a man on Maple Street Saturday night, Nov. 25, after the man had reportedly attempted to break up an altercation.

In addition, McCabe said that at a residence reported to be Borodin’s, a pocket knife was found with “red substance and biological matter” allegedly on the blade.

McCabe said that surveillance video prior to the incident showed an altercation allegedly between Borodin and another individual in a Franklin Street parking lot. The altercation was dispelled and the two parties left the area.

Afterward, McCabe said that another altercation allegedly began with the same two people, this time on Maple Street. Another individual had reportedly attempted to break up the incident and was then allegedly assaulted, according to police. Police reported that there was also a witness to this incident. During this, the individual allegedly attempting to break up the incident was stabbed several times, according to police.

Police reported that the victim was able to get themselves to Baystate Noble Hospital and was later transported to Baystate Medical Center for further treatment. The victim later reportedly identified Borodin in the police line-up.

Borodin was arraigned Dec. 1 and held without right to bail until Dec. 6 for a dangerousness hearing, according to an official from the Westfield District Court.
