WESTFIELD – The Babe Ruth Baseball 13-Year-Old Eastern Regionals was suspended Wednesday for two days with forecasts calling for inclement weather. Babe Ruth officials made the decision early Wednesday morning.
The tournament will resume Friday at Bullens Field with Milton-Barre (Vermont) at 11 a.m., followed by Westfield-Milford (Conn.) at 1 p.m.
Westfield staved off elimination with an 8-6 win over Barre on Tuesday night. It was Westfield’s first win of the tournament.
The winner of Westfield-Milford will advance to Saturday’s semifinal against Nashua (N.H.) Saturday at 1 p.m. The Barre-Milton winner will take on Portland (Maine) at 11 a.m.
The championship has been scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.
HISTORIC OPENER: The American Legion Baseball Junior State Championship is set to begin Saturday at Community Field in North Attleboro. Westfield, playing in its first-ever state tourney in its inaugural season, will take on the District 9 representative at 5 p.m.
