Babe Ruth’s race for the Cup

WESTFIELD – After another successful Babe Ruth season the league is in full playoff mode with both the Amanti Cup and Dan Welch City Cup championships being heavily contested at Bullens Field this weekend. Despite the rainy weather Dan Welch, League President reports that the playoff championship games will be played on Saturday, June 22nd second with the games Amanti Cup Final scheduled to be played at 4:30 PM and will feature #5 seed Cortina Tile in the winners bracket where they will face the winner of the Berkshire Insurance/Kiwanis/Camfour games being played on Saturday at 1:00 PM. In the Dan Welch City Cup Championship Game scheduled for 7:00 PM on Saturday, June 22nd #1 seed Sons of Erin will face off against the winner of the Police/McDonalds game being played on Friday night.
Also planned on Saturday Night prior to the City Cup Championship Game Westfield Babe Ruth will recognize and honor the Westfield High School Western MA Championship Baseball Team. All Westfield residents are encouraged to attend the ceremony and games.
During the regular season four teams played on the last night for the #1 seed for the playoffs. There have never been a tighter race for 1st place in the more than 50 year history of Westfield Babe Ruth reports Dan Welch. The final standings for the Amanti Cup Division were #1 Kiwanis, #2 Berkshire Insurance Group, #3 Camfour, #4 I T I and #5 seed Cortina Tile. After the first 5 games of the double elimination Amanti Cup playoffs #5 seed is in the winners bracket waiting to see who will try to knock them off in the championship game on Saturday afternoon.
In the 15/16 division Sons of Erin was a front runner all season finishing as the number one seed for the playoffs with a record of 13 – 2. Advance Mfg. finsshed the regular season in second place followed closely by Police Association the finally by McDonalds.
Game scheduled for Saturday, June 22nd at Bullens will be:

1:00 PM Amanti Cup elimination game # 7 between Berkshire Insurance and the winner of the Camfour/Kiwanis Game
4:30 PM Amanti Cup Championship Game
7:00 PM Recognition of WHS Western MA Championship Team
7:15 PM Dan Welch City Cup Championship Game
