WESTFIELD – The Westfield Starfires closed out a two-game home stand with its second consecutive win, beating the Worcester Bravehearts 11-5 on Wednesday night. The Starfires (19-22) erased a 5-1 deficit by scoring 10 runs in two innings to break the game open. Cole Bartels (Penn State), the reigning FCBL Home Run Derby champion who hails from Arlington, homered for the second night in a row – – his third dinger in two games – – and Jayden Brown added three RBI to pace the offense, while Pat Jordan took the win on the mound.
The Starfires entered Wednesday night’s game, fresh off a 4-0 win over New Britain on Tuesday. In that game, Bartels clubbed two homers. Starting pitcher Braden Quinn went six innings, giving up just three hits while striking out five.
