Football is back!
The NFL returns this Sunday (aside from Thursday night’s snooze fest between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears) with some exciting matchups like Atlanta-Minnesota, L.A. Rams-Carolina, and, of course, New England-Pittsburgh.
Before the Patriots unveil their sixth championship banner on Sunday Night Football before a national television audience, former New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham will have made his debut with the Cleveland Browns, and rookie phenom Kyler Murray will have either made a sterling debut for the Arizona Cardinals or flopped against the Matt Patricia-led Detroit Lions.
Due to the popularity of our free Beat “The Putz” Football Challenge, the contest returns bigger and better than ever before.
Each week, contestants are urged to pick up a copy of The Westfield News, The Original Pennysaver, East Longmeadow Reminder, Agawam Reminder, and Chicopee Herald for an entry form.
The entrant with the best record who beats yours truly will be crowned our weekly champion and win a $25 gift certificate to The Tavern Restaurant. Any ties will be broken by the Monday Night Football tiebreaker so don’t forget to include your combined point total.
If there is still a tie, a random drawing will be used to determine a winner.
All 17 weekly winners will be entered into a grand prize drawing for a Super Bowl party catered by North Elm Butcher Block, valued at $1,000.
Second place will be awarded a Weber Original Premium Copper Kettle Charcoal Grill from Manny’s Appliances. Third place is a $100 gift card to the Delaney House.
Select your picks and mail to Beat “The Putz,” The Westfield News, 62 School Street, Westfield, Mass. 01085. Entry forms must be filled out completely and postmarked no later than Friday at 11:59 p.m. Incomplete entry forms will be null and void.
