WESTFIELD – The Westfield Bombers were a hit, or rather, they hit, hit, and hit some more – 15 total hits in fact.
Westfield established their dominance right from the outset in Monday’s high school softball contest, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Bombers added four more runs in each of the third and fourth innings for good measure in a 15-1 rout of West Springfield.
West Side scored its only run in the top of the fourth.
Autumn Moccia led the offensive attack with two singles and RBI triple in the fourth inning.
Westfield’s Hailey Moniz, Casey Almeida, and Madi Robitaille helped out with multi-hit efforts.
Excellent defense was on display for the Bombers with the bases loaded for West Side in the fourth inning. Erin Gour fielded a hit at second base, fired to Morgan Zabielski at home plate for the force out, who in turn rifled the ball to Robitaille at first base for an inning-ending double play.
Moniz threw a game of a game, scattering four hits, striking out six batters and walking one.

Gateway pitcher Audrey Gamble scattered six hits over six innings. She had five strikeouts, and allowed two walks and two runs.
