WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School girls volleyball team is showing no signs of slowing down.
Just two days removed from a key win over title contender Minnechaug, Westfield bounced Longmeadow 25-17, 25-20, 24-26, 25-12 Thursday night to run its sterling early season record to 5-1 overall, 2-0 Western Division.
Brigid Moriarty (34 assists), Tetyana Shvyryd (12 kills, 14 digs, 3 aces), Tori Hosmer (8 kills), Steph Sgueglia (25 digs), Irelis Rodriguez (12 kills, 12 digs), Madison Robitaille (4 kills, 4 aces, 15 digs), and Viktoria Pavlyuk (5 kills) fueled the latest victory.
GYMNASTICS
Bombers take opener
Westfield (125.475) def. Hampshire (122.625), Chicopee Comp (114.90)
Kylie Liptak (32.45) and Miranda Wozniak (31.4) finished first and second, respectively, in the all-around to lead Westfield to a season opening victory on the road.
Wozniak won the vault (8.4) and Liptak took the gold on the bars (8.05).
GIRLS SOCCER
Rams roll past Eagles
Southwick 4, Easthampton 1
Southwick continues to roll, rolling in four scores at home. Karli Langan, Autumn Waitt, Kayla Russ, and Emily Giancola each tallied a goal for the Rams.
Giancola, Annette St. Jacques, and Jordyn Demyon each assisted.
Southwick goalie Hannah Gerrish made eight saves. Easthampton scored an own goal.
Bombers silence Colts
Westfield 2, Chicopee Comp 0
Westfield scored one goal in each half – Emma Pedolzky from Kaela Mochak (first half) and Mochak from Sophie Lewis (second) – to stay unbeaten.
Pedolzky led the Bombers with some solid midfield play.
Westfield goalie Adrianna Arona made two saves.

Tigers squeak past PVCA
Westfield Technical Academy 1, Pioneer Valley Christian Academy 0
Westfield Tech’s Kirill Ohkrimenko and Ruvim Vdovichenko kept Cam Belmar, who already has 12 goals this season, in check, and the Tigers snuck past PVCS in a league matchup on the road.
Spartans shut out Bombers
East Longmeadow 3, Westfield 0
East Longmeadow pitched a shutout at home. Westfield will look to rebound Saturday night against Holyoke at Westfield State University at 8.
FIELD HOCKEY
Mastrio nets hat trick in shut out
Minnechaug 8, Westfield 0
Julia Mastrio recorded a hat trick in Minnechaug’s road shutout. Westfield goalie Rachel Packard finished with 19 saves.
GOLF
Bombers deal Cards a loss
Westfield 155, Pope Francis 178
Westfield shot its lowest team total of the season. The Bombers were led by Jack Hogan, David Tirrell and Brian Daly, who each shot a 38. Colin Scanlon and Anthony Schabowski finished with 41 apiece.
“Everyone played really well today,” said Westfield coach Chris Strycharz, whose team improved to 4-1 overall, 4-0 league.

St. Mary’s Luke Willenborg finished with a match-best 38 for three points.
JV GIRLS SOCCER

Brooke Bellows scored two goals to lead Southwick. Zoey Stevenson assisted.
