WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School boys’ cross country team continues to serve as a roadblock for the competition.
Westfield blew away the opposition yesterday, trouncing Hampshire and Sabis by the same outcome, 15-50, at Stanley Park. The Bombers swept the top seven spots.
Tim Doste won the 3.1-mile course in 15:43. Blake Croteau placed second (15:48), Matt Jacobson was third (15:49), Ben Doiron, fourth (15:56), Artie Cruz, fifth (17:28), Cheyenne Grabiec , sixth (17:47), and Colin Irujo, seventh (17:54).
Southwick 26, Mohawk 30; East Longmeadow 15, Southwick 46
Chris Roy (15:56) and Matt Sitler (16:08) finished in seventh and eighth overall, respectively, for Southwick. Rams’ Jesse Gregg was 13th in 17:22.
Ryan Drndenfoerder and James Myers tied for 20th (17:48).
ORLOWSKI THE TOP GATOR: Joseph Orlowski has risen to the top of the running field. Orlowski placed third (18:05) in a meet against Palmer and Sabis, and claimed first overall against Granby recently with a time of 18:28.

Southwick 17.5, Westfield Voc-Tech 6.5
Nick Maserelli shot a 45, playoff-bound Jake Hough had a 46, and Kyle Manley finished with a 47 for Southwick (6-10-1).
Connor Hall led Voc-Tech, shooting a 51.
