SOUTH HADLEY – Westfield top singles player Loeiz Briand improved to 12-0 in the 2013 regular season, and Chris Unger (7-5, 6-0) and Jacob Barbeiri (6-4, 6-2) won at second and third singles to lift the Bombers past South Hadley at Mount Holyoke College, 4-1.
Westfield, which is seeking to win two of its final four matches to earn a team postseason berth, won a forfeit in doubles’ competition.
In postseason singles’ competition, Briand has already defeated Sabis’s Colin Jerard 6-0, 6-2, and now awaits third round play. Unger, who won a first round matchup against Chicopee Comp’s Andrew Sulewski 6-2, 6-1; and, Barbeiri were eliminated on the first day.
