Bombers swim still perfect

WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School swim program continues to show no signs of slowing down.
Westfield improved to a combined 12-0 as the Bombers’ boys (105-81 victory) and girls (114-72) both defeated Longmeadow’s respective teams Tuesday to remain unbeaten (6-0) this regular season.
Hope Walsh led the Westfield girls’ swim team with a pair of first-place finishes (200 free, 1:59.57; 100 free, 56.62). Walsh also anchored a winning 200-yard medley relay unit, along with Kate McCabe, Lauren Longley, and Erin Lewis (1:59.06).
Other first-place finishers for the Bombers included: Kelsey Veillette (diving, 185 points), Lauren Longley (100 fly, 1:04.92), Jordan Jacobson (100 back, 1:04.68), Genna Senecal (1:15.12), and the 400 free relay team (Longley, Hannah Plourde, Senecal, Jacobson), which finished in 3:56.97.
BOYS’ RESULTS
Jimmy Stinehart and John Dolan were sensational against Longmeadow.
Both Westfield swimmers won two events apiece and combined to capture the 200-yard medley relay (1:50.00), along with Timothy Kwarcinski and Matt Jacobson; and, 200 free relay, with Matt LaBombard and Chris Tu (1:35.48).
Dolan won the 200 free (2:00.43) and 100 free (52.47); Stinehart finished first in the 50 free (22.72) and 100 breaststroke (1:05.07).
Kwarcinski was magnificent, as well, claiming first in the 200 IM (2:04.25) and 100 backstroke (57.67). He also anchored the 400 free relay team’s first-place finish (3:36.56) with LaBombard, Tu, and Jacobson.
LaBombard won the 500 free in 5:18.43.
