WESTFIELD – The Boys & Girls Club “grab & go” lunch program, Summer Eats, which also includes breakfast for the next day, is in full swing at nine sites around the city.
Director of Operations Kellie Brown said the Club recently completed the renovation of their kitchen thanks to a state grant. “We now have the capability of making all of our own meals in house for the first time since running the summer program,” Brown said.
The Club also received a grant from the Attorney General’s office through YouthWorks to hire extra staff for the summer, and have hired four extra hands to prepare all the meals. There are five vans to deliver meals to sites throughout the city.
Every young person in the greater Westfield community is invited to visit one of the sites and pick up a free, healthy grab & go lunch. There are no eligibility requirements & no questions asked. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
