Carolyn M. Laptik
1947-2026
SOUTHWICK – Carolyn (Cheal) Laptik, age 78, passed away peacefully at home on September 24th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Watertown, NY she was the daughter of the late Howard and Teresa (Lawyer) Cheal and was a resident of Southwick since 1969. Carolyn was a loyal parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Church.
Carolyn graduated from Brownville High School in Brownville, NY and proceeded to receive her Certificate in Nursing from the House of the Good Samaritan. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Noble Hospital and Westfield Manor Nursing Home as well as a receptionist at the office of Drs. Keenan, Malladi & O’Neill in Westfield, MA.
Carolyn loved getting together with her girlfriends every week for “Game Day” as well as having “Girls Night Out” dinners with her KMO coworkers. What Carolyn enjoyed most of all was spending time with her family. Weekends were spent together having pool parties, BBQ’s and sharing lots of laughter.
Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Richard Laptik; two daughters and their spouses, Taunya Jeffries and Ryan; Kendra Shogren and Bryan; three grandchildren, Ella Jeffries, Ruby Jeffries, and Lucy Shogren; as well as extended family members and many friends.
Calling hours will take place on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026, from 9:00 a.m.-10:30 at Southwick Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 624 College Highway, Southwick. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Sheep Pasture Road, Southwick. Carolyn will be laid to rest in the New Southwick Cemetery, College Highway, Southwick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Our Lady of the Lake Church or Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
