WESTFIELD – Jack Quinn left for the Grey Havens early on the morning of September 21st he was smiling at last.
John R. Quinn, Jr. born on February 5th, 1942, and was the son of John and Mary (Hussey) Quinn. He leaves his wife of 60 years Denise Harrington, their children Timothy and his wife Kim, and daughter Tara Bean and her husband Brent. Also, the lights of his life, grandchildren: Hannah and Catie Bean, and Jack, Tom and Michael Quinn. Also, his sister Maureen Griffin and her husband Richard of Gardner MA.
Whenever a doctor asked Jack how he was the answer was “good.” His mission in life seemed to be to make everyone feel “good” and he was successful. His laugh was always bubbling up.
Jack passed from his “Good” life on September 21st at home, early in the morning. He was 84. His family felt sad to lose him, but they soon began telling stories that replaced tears with laughter.
Mr. Quinn will be remembered a teacher who was kind, caring and fun. He impacted many young lives in his 30 years as a fifth-grade teacher.
Jack believed all things were possible and proved it by building a garage guided only by faith and the Army Corp of Engineers “How To” book, and enlisting the neighborhood children to hammer nails (and work on their math skills).
He was a builder, of furniture, tool sheds and garden pools and of prize-winning Parade Floats. He was a proud Irish man and active member of the Sons of Erin. His first overseas trip to Ireland in 1966 was followed by over forty years of traveling adventures all over the world with best friends Ron and Betsy Orlandi. The World Tour sadly ended by the COVID epidemic.
Papa (Jack) became a devoted sports fan watching Little League games, Field Hockey, Lacrosse and Soccer starting with 4-year-olds through college. He was known as Papa to the team members and their parents.
He touched many lives and made them better. Be at peace Papa.
Burial will be at convenience of the family.
