CINDY C. HARRIS

Name: Cindy C. Harris

Address: 45 South Maple St.

Occupation: Human Resource Consultant

What experience and qualifications do you have that would be an asset to the city?

As a Human Resource expert, International and small business, I understand jobs, pay and what is necessary to run a good business (City) and as a former City Assistant Assessor I understand taxes, budgets, real estate values.

Have you recently met with city department heads to discuss their needs/concerns/budgets and if so, which ones?

I have a good working relationship with all departments, committees, commissions. All strive for bare necessities. New business to bring income for our City and more money from the State for roads and schools are necessary. The government can change the debt ceiling at any time and likely will since so many cities are in the same situation.

If you could change how the Council works, what would be your priority?

Laws & Rules govern our City Council proceedings. Civility, Compromise when appropriate, and less focus on political motivations and a little more genuine concern for all our Citizens are important for a positive outcome of meetings.

What are your top three areas of concern for Westfield and how would you like to address them?

Continue to support our great Police, Fire, First Responders—Roads now being replaced not just pothole repair, less vehicle damage—Children of all abilities and important Educators need the State to update the funding of Schools–$1 million given to City recently in refund costs for Water Treatment, More $$ to come—All Traffic needs to be addressed by Traffic Commission—I am the one who makes the Motion for the Lowest Tax Rate for Homeowners, renters.

Why should Residents Vote for you?

You would be paying way less in Taxes had the full Council supported my motions over the past 6 years. I’m a Gold Star Daughter (father died in Korean War) supporting Vets and Active Duty—The Arts and Sports are positives for our City. Dedicated, have not missed a Council meeting in six years, even with the death of my husband since the last election.

What positive effect have you had on the City?

Being the ONLY WOMAN AT LARGE (1 out of 7) for six years shows other Women WE CAN DO IT! and assures Men that their Daughters, Sisters, Mothers can have a strong voice. –Focusing on the Good in our City helps us all as a Community.
