WESTFIELD – Clotilda Louise Swiatek, 96, passed away on January 24, 2013 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Agawam. She was born in Westfield, March 1, 1916, daughter of the late John and Zofia Samborski.One of 12 children, she lived in Westfield most of her life, worshipping at St. Joseph Polish National Catholic Church. She served as MK Club President there for 18 years. After graduation from Westfield High School, Cloty worked for the late Dr. George Flessas, a local pediatrician, for over 24 years. She taught cake decorating at the Evening Practical Arts Division of the State of Massachusetts for more than 18 years, attending summer sessions at Fitchburg State College each year. Her albums display the many wedding and specialty cakes she created. What a talented artiest she was, also producing dozens of beautiful oil paintings, water colors, charcoals and wood carvings. Her family cherishes her works.
Cloty was married to the late Joseph Swiatek for 65 years. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Vangsness and her husband Wayne of Agawam, daughter, Janet Blasberg and husband Ronald of Riverside, CT; grandchildren, Karen Prelovsky and husband Tom of Laurel, MD, Mark Vangsness of Florida, Todd Vangsness of Stow, MA, Kristen Grossman and husband Josh of Hingham, MA and Eric Blasberg and wife Ashley of Stamford, CT; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Vangsness and Theo and Tessa Grossman. She is also survived by two sisters, Emelia Oleksak and Loretta Masciadrelli as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sisters, Helen Bujnicki, Stacia Samborski, Sofia Sulewski, and Jennie Carbonneau and brothers, Adolph, Edmund, Benjamin, Henry and Mitchell Samborski.
Viewing will be at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA on Monday, January 28th between 8:00-9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Polish National Catholic Church on 73 Main Street, Westfield.
