BOSTON – Freshman Johnny Orlando scored the lone goal for Westfield State, but it was too little, too late for the Owls as Westfield State fell to SUNY-Brockport by a 5-1 score in the championship game of the 51st annual Codfish Bowl tournament at the Beacons Ice Arena at UMass-Boston on Sunday afternoon.
The Owls had been vying for their fourth Codfish title in as many appearances in the tournament, the second longest-running collegiate hockey tournament in America.
Orlando tallied at 16:30 of the third period to cut the final margin to 5-1, off assists from Sam Quaranta and Mason Wade.
Brockport netted a pair of goals in the first period, a pair in the second period, and one in the third period. Tournament MVP Ryan Kangas got the Golden Eagles scoring started just 2:58 into the contest.
