Comcast remodels, expands Westfield store

WESTFIELD – Comcast held a special reception and ribbon-cutting event Friday to announce the grand opening of its “interactive Xfinity Store” in Westfield. The 810-square-foot space has been redesigned entirely around the needs of customers, providing them with an opportunity to explore, learn about and interact directly with the latest Xfinity products and services, according to the company.
Community leaders, including Westfield Mayor Daniel Knapik, came out to help celebrate the opening and tour the new store. Bill Parks, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Westfield, was also in attendance to accept a $6,000 cassh and in-kind donation from Comcast.
“We’re proud to be a part of the Westfield community and excited to open this new Xfinity Store,” said Mary McLaughlin, senior vice president for Comcast’s Western New England Region, which includes western Massachusetts, Connecticut and Vermont. “We designed this new store model keeping our customers’ convenience and entertainment in mind, and we welcome everyone to visit us here to ask questions, manage your accounts and try out our latest technology.”
The opening of the new Xfinity Store is part of Comcast’s multi-year strategy to transform the customer experience and to create a culture focused on exceeding customers’ expectations, at all levels of the company. The plan centers on looking at every decision through a customer lens and making measureable changes and improvements across the company. The core elements of the strategic plan include major investments in technology and training to give employees the tools they need to deliver excellent service; simplify billing and create better policies to provide greater consistency and transparency to customers; the renovation of stores; continued hiring of frontline employees to serve Comcast customers; and the development of new technologies that will enable customers to interact with us how and when they want.
The redesigned, interactive Westfield Xfinity Store, the second of its kind in western Massachusetts, features flat screen HDTVs, a comfortable seating area and informational displays where customers can learn more about Comcast’s products and services, including X1, Xfinity Home, and Comcast’s suite of mobile apps. Additionally, customers will receive personalized service from four trained and knowledgeable sales consultants and more time-saving offerings, including a new queuing system that allows customers to explore and be entertained while waiting for service.
The Westfield Xfinity Store is located at 1110 E Mountain Road and is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Comcast also recently opened an Xfinity Store in Springfield at 1083 Boston Road in the Walmart Plaza.
