WESTFIELD – Donald K. Billings, 83, of Westfield died Monday, January 28, 2013 in Westfield. He was born in Dorchester on October 30, 1929 to Kenneth and Elsie (Metcalf) Billings.
Don was a graduate of Westfield High School and was employed as the custodian of the First Congregational Church in Westfield for forty years. He served for eighteen years in the National Guard, Coached Westfield Little League and was on the board of directors and long time coach for the Southwick Rec. Center. Don also volunteered for various local charity organizations. He enjoyed music, history, traveling and spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife Mildred E.(Teel) Billings; four sons, Michael Billings and Debbie Kofko of Bristol, CT, Dennis Billings and his wife Sharon of Granville, Kenneth Billings and his wife Linda of Enfield, CT and Glenn Billings and his wife Lisa of Livermore, CO; three daughters, Patricia Malcomb and her husband Donald of Punta Gorda, FL, Valerie Wackerbarth and her husband Steven of West Springfield, and Lynn Elfeky of Simsbury, CT. He also leaves two brothers, George Billings and his wife Rita of Atascadero, CA and David Billings and his wife Patricia of Bradford, ME; three step children, Charles Blake and his wife Gail of Westfield, Mark Blake and his wife Susan of Ludlow, Donna Hart and Jay of Port Charlotte, FL., seventeen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. He also leaves his first wife, Maryellen Woodell of Granville. He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Yucker and a grandson, Christopher Billings.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Congregational Church, 18 Broad Street, Westfield, MA. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are omitted.
